Firing an explosive arrow into a wild cougar as it is attacking a man with a flamethrower is a standard Far Cry experience, but with each new iteration of this series the charm doesn't seem to wear down. 2, 3, and 4 were masterpieces that I've enjoyed, and even still continue to enjoy. It's pretty clear that the base of the story doesn't really change between Far Cry games, and while some may find that boring, some fans find pleasure in experiencing the new environment, and different twists. 5 introduces some new mechanics and removes some old ones. The gameplay is more fluid and natural. NPCs and the story line do a good job of directing your actions, but at the end of the day you can just about do anything you want. That includes landing a sea plane in the middle of a large lake and fishing for trout, Flying a helicopter into an extraordinarily explosive silo, overturning a terrorist organization, petting a cougar, completing obligatory zipline and parkour missions, driving a musclecar with machine guns on it ( 'cause 'murica!). There have been a handfull of bugs and glitches but for the most part the game has been smooth and playable. Totally recommend -- especially for co-op.

I'm not sure exactly how usefull yet another overwhelmingly positive review will be, but there is something to be said about slicing the heads off of stormtrooper zombies to classical music on a burning bridge while screaming your prayers at the top of your lungs.

This game is made great by its undeniably beautiful writing, and excellent playability. Its sarcastic wit at every corner makes not only the storyline more compelling but leads to some interesting situations when playing with friends. Borderlands 2 has a unique flavour with its interesting graphics rendering, making this fantasy world believable, but at the same time keeping it in the realm of fantasy. It has well balanced weapons, it is easy to play with friends of different levels without over/underwhelming any party members, and its open world and long story line will keep you on it for hours, and then coming back for a second go with the much more difficult, ultimate vault hunter mode.
