One of Those Games You Don’t Forget

(Finished on PS5 after PC issues.)

Expedition 33 is one of those rare games that leaves you sitting there after the credits thinking, "That was something special.” It’s the same feeling I had after finishing The Witcher 3, KOTOR, and Mass Effect 1 & 2 for example.

The story and writing are exceptional, dealing with grief, loss, and acceptance in a mature, emotional way. The voice acting is top-tier, making every character feel real and deeply human. Combat and gameplay are engaging, well-paced, and thoughtfully designed, and the soundtrack is easily one of the best this year.

This is a game we’ll look back on fondly years from now. An easy and well-deserved GOTY, and a shining example of what a focused AA/indie studio can achieve. 10/10.

Great follow up to Until Dawn, but falls short to the predecessor. The ending was a bit disappointing as it didn't have any post credit cut scene and no interview type footage during the credits. The pacing is a little bad too, as it makes you play a certain part of the game just to cut you off randomly to a long cut scene. I also wish there was more PC options for the graphics such as turning off the motion blur as it can get really crazy and make performance suffer from time to time. Story was OK, just wish the ending had a bit more to it. All in all, it was still pretty solid and the cast did a good job with the acting. Until Dawn is still the better game for me, and maybe one day they port it over to PC. Solid 7/10, not worth the full price. I would wait for
a sale on this.

Strong beginning, weak middle, but solid ending to a good game and story. 8/10.

Worth buying if you love the Alien franchise.
