Tried to row out of there 1min into the game. Wouldn't let me. Scared some seagulls. They died. Tried to repair a cart to carry some bags of sand. Couldn't. Had to carry by hand. 0/10 Pretty Good game.

It is a walking simulator. You wander and talk to some grandma over the radio. It starts promising with skinny-dipping teens, then lags for a long time building up a transparent and boring mystery, then ends with a forest fire. You will occasionally find some real mysteries, but they go nowhere. It seems the main goal of the game is to collect all the books you can from the stash boxes and bring them back to your ranger station to proudly display on your shelf, but you can only carry one book at a time, literally in front of your face, and have to throw it in the dirt to hook up a rope or chop at a bush because I guess Henry's backpack is broken???

I'm sure that, for someone, a walking simulator about two chatty cowards and their lifetime of baggage will be mesmerizing, but as a "collect all the books I can find in the wilderness" simulator it leaves a lot to be desired.

A game for aspiring compulsives. Extremely salty that it took 4 contractors 2 weeks to build my kitchenette but I got it done in 5 minutes, alone, with a magic ipad. Demonstrably better with a podcast or something in the background. About 10 hours or so worth of missions that introduce mechanics then slowly adapt you from tidying up a shack to fully renovating a house while building your capital. The rest is freeform buying wrecks and turning them into palaces. As far as the DLC goes, the HGTV pack is just more of the base game, just East Coast flavored. The Garden Flipper is $15 you can spend to make your game less enjoyable. Apocalypse and Cyberpunk packs are basically free item packs, though Apocalypse has three bunker renovation jobs.
