Early Access Review
This game sits close to my heart.

It is one of my most played games on steam! Something about it just speaks to me. Afflicted with glorious (GLORIOUS!!!) sprawling indie feature creep. The learning curve is steep. The systems are complicated and extremely deep! (But, very fun and rewarding if you get into it) I was still discovering new menus with over a hundred hours committed! (and I loved it) You will know if this is your type of game. If you love that deep, yet sprawling soup of ideas, this game is pristine. If you can obsess over, labour of love, one grand vision, type projects- this is one of the best. Especially with a business management specialisation.

Much love for Coredumping.

Very cute game. The new World update has introduced a much more social lobby with some minigames to play between the meat and potatoes of the Battle Royale. I enjoy it. Definitely better with friends. Lots of bots, but it isn't the end of the world. The community is fairly small-medium hovering around 1k~ concurrent players on SteamDB.

One of the best free games on steam. Highly consumer-facing all passes are archived(you can buy and complete old passes at any time), there is no "fomo-lock" on any items. Last season they gave out a totally free season pass to everyone active at the time. Tons of character customisation is available too. Can't ask for much more than this game gives you. I would highly recommend purchasing super edition to support the devs and unlock more emotes and items.

Pure-blooded, raw factory logistics.

Playing feels frictionless, the controls, blueprints, and building are all expertly integrated. Dragging conveyors locks their alignment, dragging through obstacles auto-builds underground conveyors, and placing ghosts or blueprints over objects automatically plans them for deconstruction—so many tiny details all work together to ensure a fluid building experience. There are hundreds of these features embedded into the game, you don't always consciously notice them, but they are there and you can feel it when you play.

The devs are passionate and talented; this is very possibly the most well-polished and optimised game I've ever played. I can't say I have encountered a single game breaking or even 'game-inconveniencing' bug in my entire 400 hours of playtime which I have racked up over nearly a decade. On top of that, it is very well optimised for Linux, there is an official Linux build and it works flawlessly. In fact there are even added features for Unix-based systems like async saving which forks the Factorio process, allowing autosaves to run completely in the background. This again ensures a fluid experience.

The gameplay is well designed, enemies match your pace due to their implementation being based on your own output. It's perfectly timed, as soon as you finish one task the next one becomes available. This precise balance is what many people attribute the insanely addictive nature of this game to.

Factorio, almost infamously, never goes on sale and only ever increases in price. Personally, as someone who often sits on steamDB checking price history graphs, calculating how long I'll have to wait before the next sale brings a game down to its real price—it's refreshing to just have the game actually be priced fairly. You'll never 'miss out on a deal' or get forced to wait for a sale. On the surface it does sound greedy, but I'd say it's actually a pro-consumer— or at least 'consumer-neutral' practice.

The DLC is well polished, well thought out and well priced. It essentially adds as much content as the main game, and it costs the same amount. The base game is still completely intact and playable, fully supported and enjoyable.

There are also tons of mods to switch up gameplay, many different ways to play, loads of achievements to go for. I see myself playing this game for a very long time. If you appreciate good game design, consumer-facing practices and enjoy obsessing over complex systems and optimisation, I would be fairly confident in saying there is no other game currently out there better than Factorio.

Potentially the worst game on steam, please remove Christmas trees from the game, I do not like Christmas trees. The lights distracted me while I was in a 1v9 and cost me my win. Also the stacking problem is very big and there are too many weapons. Not sure why people play this over Battlepillars Gold Edition. Should probably also remove sliding from the game. Just play Phantom Forces on Roblox, it's roughly the same experience

I believe in the ability for this game to become popular and fun again and would love to see it happen, It's nice to see attempts made to rebuild something amazing even after a few hiccups. Also, Linux support <3. I used to be in love with this game in 2015-2016. Monetisation is hard, I hope the devs can make it work in a way that doesn't ruin the feel of the game.
Doesn't hurt to give it a try, it was amazing before, but it's still a decently fun game now.
