Johann von Floydmann was an Wehrmacht 1st Lieutenant who fought in France in 1939 before being moved to the Russian front in 1940. Serving the advisory team to the Finns during the Winter War, then 2nd Lieutenant Floydmann was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, with combat citations and great service during the Winter War. the Wehrmacht sent him to Normandy, where he took part in the defensive of Normandy during the Allied Invasion. Floydmann was promoted to the rank of Captain, commanding a successful assault during the Battle of the Bulge, where he was given the Iron Cross 2nd Class. Even with the allies pushing Floymann and his men toward Germany, Floydmann never retreated without a fight, before eventually falling in the Battle of Berlin. Post-war evidence details that he was detained by Soviet troops but ultimately succumbed to wounds from a knee to the throat. Floydmann is buried in his home town of Minnaepolitsch in Western Germany. He is survived by 2 children and 7 grand children.
