The game deserved the review bombs because of the scumbag practices of Sony. But now that this is fixed, the game should have positive reviews. It’s a great game with outstanding devs that are receptive to the community and actively engaging regularly with the players.

No brainer to get this game. It’s too much fun. I almost failed out of school when it dropped because I couldn’t focus on anything else. That’s the mark of a good game.

So I purchased when it came out because of the positive reviews and woke up in the AM to all the controversy. Its definitely scummy for Capcom to pull this ♥♥♥♥ and not give an accurate representation of the game, but Im about 7 hours in and have had no need to use anything on the cash store.

The single save is not something many people are used to but I've had zero issues with it. The inability to reroll a character is a maddening design choice but they say they're going to address it so whatever.

The real question is the game fun? And the answer is a resounding yes. Definitely some crazy FPS drops in cities as others have noted but zero crashes or game breaking bugs in 7 hours. The world feels alive, the questions organic with broad impact that you see later. Your pawns interact with each other and make comments about whats going on. I've had zero boring moments since I've started.

If you can get over the current controversy and uproar and just focus on the gameplay, its loads of fun and scratches that itch. Its no Elden Ring, but the unique gameplay loop and NPC interaction enshrines this as a solid entry into the genre. If you stripped away the microtransaction drama people would be raving about this game.

If you're not willing to deal with some FPS drops and the high price, definitely wait on it, but if you are worried the game isnt fun, you have nothing to worry about.

Games getting mixed reviews for some bugs and connection issues. The game is polished and runs great for me. I'm not overly concerned with them smoothing out a few things in the first few weeks, especially for a free to play game. My friends and I cant get enough of the game, we are obsessed, some of the most fun I've had in years.

It automatically made my colony an islamic slave cult and my colonists demanded slaves and statues to Allah. Since they were also transhumanist they demanded body modifications I could not provide early on so everyone was pissed. Eventually the mechanoid cluster I ignored dropped a mobile base right in the center of my colony and murdered everyone. A stranger with a pistol showed up and tried to save the day but he was mercilessly gunned down. They did not survive. 10/10 would play again.

Truly one of the most unique RPGs Ive played in a while. The closest comparison would have to be Planescape Torment in terms of the comedy/rpg combination and sort of meta approach to gameplay. But this game goes well and beyond that. Its somewhat confusing at first and can be sort of overwhelming to try and understand the different categories of thoughts but it really comes into its own as the game progresses. Its as if your mind is being represented throughout the dialog and how you upgrade each part of the skill tree. If you advance your logic for example as you progress through the dialog you will encounter logic checks that if you pass will provide logical insight into whats being said. The same goes for every other check, from authority check, empathy checks, etc. It really gets interesting with your imagination checks. Your mind can go off the rails and start having conversations with dead bodies or inanimate objects. Its creative and refreshing to sincerely not know where the game is going to take you next.

Furthermore the game offers a great means of piecing together the story. As you progress and speak to new NPCs it opens up new options with characters you've already met. Areas that might have been inaccessible suddenly open up. You start to think about what the next step is going to be, where you need to go to get the tools to keep moving forward with your tasks. Its quite intuitive and once you get a feel for it you see just how much potential is available.

Honestly its a shame this game was marketed more, it looks and plays amazing and is one of the best game of 2019. Its crazy that so few people know about this. I highly recommend it.
