For an Early Access game presumably made by like one or two guys, this game is awesome!
Super addictive, super fun, the medieval combat is clunky but still engaging, and town management can get surprisingly in-depth
That being said, as great as it is, there is a whole host of bugs. None of them too gamebreaking, but some stuff is annoying (for example, taking over an AI village, the militia of that village will become 'phantom' militia and cannot be selected yet still counts towards your unit cap)
If you like a loveable, buggy mess of a medieval game defo buy this game to support the devs
Otherwise, wait a few years till its out of the oven

One of the best gaming experiences of all time, hands down. Gameplay (ME1 is clunky but ME2 and 3 are fine) and narrative combine in a vivid world shaped by your actions. Can't wait for the next installment coming in a few years.

If you don't wanna suffer through the 30-40 hour slog that is low BR, don't bother playing this game. While low BR is full of newbs like yourself, its also full of premium ppl who fully bush their tanks. The progression in this game is so arduously slow that it forces you to buy premium just to progress quicker. Dont play this game if you have a high opinion of yourself.

Coming back to the game after 'release,' it suffers from three main issues of increasing importance.

1. Almost non-existent tutorial system making the learning curve quite steep, but it isn't too bad once you learn it. Low importance

2. Horrendous pacing. Yes, it's a "long-term strategy game" but that doesn't mean there should be nothing happening, especially in the 'mid-game' when big nations start to form and you can basically just put all your councilors on advise forever.

3. Whack AI. This is the worst one for me, because it doesn't feel like I am playing alongside 6 evenly-matched secret societies, but rather 6 toddlers whom either attempt to slap me or ignore me (exodus). Aliens used to transfer fleets piecemeal, which made whittling them down tedious but easy with good tech, but now they ultra-deathstack. The second you go to war, you better be prepared to deal with a 10k power fleet with 5 titans :)

I am also salty this game has stolen so many hours of my life I'll never get back before running into these issues, retrying twice before realizing playing as anyone except Servants or Protectorate will run into these issues (although those two are BORING to play as well)

This game is a tactical masterpiece. You have to tactically spend your money, prioritize either more bases, better aircraft, or stronger soldiers. You have to tactically act during your ground missions, be ready for anything. You have to tactically deploy your aircraft to use enough force to kill the enemy, but not too much so you have planes for when the next UFO inevitabely comes.
Big drawback: The UI is clunky, and bug ridden. The battles are bug ridden period (I keep getting a bug where the firing sound for a weapon persists for the WHOLE MISSION, its so annoying). And I still dont know how to adjust the throttle for aircraft after 6 hours of playing...

Dont get me wrong, this is a VERY fun game. BUT. Any standard sort of Empire gets very boring, very quickly. It doesn't really matter what sort of ethics your star nation has. It all plays the same. Sure, if you are militaristic xenophobes you go on wars to conquer neighbors, but I can do that anyway as a fanatic xenophile egalitarian, because the AI seems predetermined to hate you no matter what. You shouldnt have to pay for DLC to have a unique experience.

Great game, and even greater modibility. Y'know, this reminds me of that one time my buddy Keith...
