The game has a lot of depth and feels very cinematic, but the community is what makes the most impact on this being an amazing experience.

Don't bother. I gave these guys $30 for early access and the benefit of the doubt. I've played a decent chunk of this run & die simulator, even won a few rounds, but now with Season Pass, Locked Crates, and constant bugs in lag (death cam is a joke), audio mix, physics, collision geo... I'm done. There's no unlock progress to be made outside their greedy cash money lootboxes, skill is frequently trumped by luck, and the new jungle map is like a reskinned cut-down version of the original map. Go play Fortnite if you want a season pass looter, or battlefield if you want solid gunplay and map design.

Subnautica is an amazing game, it drops you into a hostile alien world with minimal hand-holding, it challenges your engineering mindset while still telling impactful stories of your own struggle and that of others. It starts out quite tame but ramps up and gets under your skin quickly.
