After Doom 2016 managing to get me interested in the FPS genre again, after many years of pretty much only similar games dropping in an already Oversaturated Market, I have to say Doom Eternal from a gameplay perspective is the Best and most Fun FPS game I have played in my life. The Doom Dance Gameplay loop is easy to pick up, but with advanced tech such as Quick Swapping and proper use of the Meethook it'll take some dedication and time to truly master it. The DLCs without a doubt require you to have a full understanding of the Combat loop to succeed, which is quite a risk to take in the modern gaming Industry. All in all it's a fun but unforgiving game with a very high skill cap, and that's what makes it such a unique experience and brings some fresh air into the now sadly very niche genre of Arena Shooters.

After 4 Years of being an avid online player, having seen all kinds of changes the game has gone through and what kinds of new exploits and or Meta has been found, i have to say invasions and duels with randoms really aren't as fun as they used to be. Most people take this game way to seriously and play it like you would play a fighting game, which would be using every single advantage and exploit they can get just so they can feel better about themselves.

Newcomers absolutely will not stand a chance against anyone anymore and getting better to actually see results for someone that doesn't have friends to duel with is practically impossible anymore. 95% of players are sweaty tryhards using the same 4 weapons just because they outclass the others by far, therefore giving them a very unbalanced advantage to anyone trying to play with something unique.

The Arena has been absolutely dead since 2019 asides from duels which is also kind of the final nail in the coffin to realize we're playing a revenant of what used to be a fun and (mostly) non toxic game that welcomed newcomers.

I doubt it but i hope Elden Ring won't follow the same path of becoming a cesspool of losers with a superiority complex that are literally grasping at straws to fuel their delusions.
