One of NIGHTREIGN's biggest strengths lies in its variety of character classes. Each class feels unique and well-balanced, encouraging players to experiment with different builds and playstyles. The boss battles, as expected, are intense and challenging enough. They push players to their limits without feeling unfair, and each encounter requires thoughtful strategy and adaptability. This is the first Soulslike that features a bow build being just as strong, if not stronger than any other class.

In true Souls fashion, guidance is minimal. The game offers little in the way of tutorials, leaving players to discover tactics and mechanics through trial and error. While this may be frustrating to newcomers, veterans will find the exploration and experimentation deeply satisfying.

All in all, NIGHTREIGN is a thrilling experience that will definitely satisfy longtime fans of Dark Souls and Elden Ring. However, to keep players engaged over the long term, the game will need a steady and substantial stream of new content. If that happens, NIGHTREIGN could stand as a long term deal in the Souls franchise.

Mechanically the best Soulslike outside of Fromsoftware's own releases. Gameplay and combat feel smooth, and the story is exquisitely well written. The game itself doesn't offer very much exploring and it is very linear, but the areas are amazingly designed and it feels like they're bigger than they actually are. For a story based game like this, I actually prefer the linear story progression and a refreshing new area after completing the previous one. Character building is simple enough and the weapon customising rewards experimenting to the max. There are plenty of build paths you can go with, and weapon combos feel endless on a single playthrough. The story isn't the longest, but NG+ option for completionists is there for a very good reason, as well as it even might be necessary to experiment with all the weapons, movesets, combos etc to the fullest. Solid 9/10, would recommend for any Soulslike enjoyer.

Elements from the likes of Dark Souls and Sekiro brought together nicely in a bit more fast paced manner with much better co-op
