Really only giving it a positive rating because Warhammer.

In reality, I have mixed feelings. It's a pretty short game which is fine, especially since it's free, but for some reason it's one of those games where intentionally setting your FPS limit lower actually makes the game easier. In fact, unless you are able to consistently type at over 120WPM, you probably will NEED to lower the limit to 30 if you want to beat the higher difficulty settings for the later levels.

Otherwise, it's exactly what you see. A WH40K themed typing game. At the end of the day, it's basically just an advertisement for Boltgun.

The game is LITERALLY unfinished. There's an achievement for a level 36 that is inaccessible.

Each level is insanely strict, having a SINGLE solution, with some of the later levels being insanely unintuitive and wonky that when you finally see the solution, you're not left with satisfaction, but instead a feeling of "what the ♥♥♥♥, how the ♥♥♥♥ was I supposed to figure that out?".

It's not very expensive, but it's still one of the few games that I'm going to request a refund for.

The first playthrough was interesting, fun, and pulled me in to the story. After that though, you realize that this game is so incredibly monotonous that having 10 different endings is extremely excessive. Each playthrough will take you 2 or more hours, so it's like 20 hours of doing the almost exact same thing every single day. And to make things worse, you only get ONE save point in the form of your starting jar of kambucha unless you specifically order another one halfway through.

If you mess up during planning, that's at least an hour of your time completely down the drain. Which would be fine, IF the game was fun enough to warrant another playthrough for it's own sake. It's not.

At this point I'm only interested in seeing the other endings because I'm curious about the narrative. The gameplay itself at this point is like nails on a chalkboard though.

It's fun if you don't care about achieving everything. I still think it's a good game, but the memory card system is infuriating. Some of the challenges introduced as hard as ♥♥♥♥. Which is fine, fair enough. But what pisses me off, is that you have a limited number of attempts. once you run out, you have to go back to farming for hours to get more cards.

"b-b-but, you can get a bunch of packs in one really good run". This is true, but the packs are RNG and you are never guaranteed the cards you actually want. Plus, maybe I've just been REALLY unlucky lately, but I've had 3 or 4 back-to-back runs where I lose at the first or second deadline because the game REFUSED to give me ANY good charms, and all of my spins resulted in LITERALLY nothing.

I get that it's a slot machine, but I don't want to sit here RNG grinding cards, just to lose due to RNG on the actual memory card challenges and have to repeat the entire process over again. They should be reworked so it's not as much of a pain in the ass.

At the time of posting this review, I still have a little bit of the game left. I'm currently getting all the Huge Materia and I'm in Rocket Town. This game has a pretty good story (but it's not anything crazy-good), but the gameplay is annoying and frustrating. The materia system is awful. Not because it's an awful concept, but because it requires you to CONSTANTLY be moving them around in the menu. You can never just set materia and forget about it, because the story will constantly force you into different party setups, meaning that you have to exchange every single piece of materia you have equipped. Every. Single. Time. It's such an awful feeling to have more than half of the game just be navigating the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ menus and re-equipping everything that you already had equipped, but on different characters that you haven't been using until the game FORCES them into your party. And this happens SO MANY TIMES.

I'm sure that this was an amazing game for the time period it released in the late 90s, and maybe into the early 2000s, but I can't help but feel that anybody in the modern day who claims this is one of the best RPGs of all time still is just straight up delusional or too CLOUDed by childhood nostalgia to see clearly. The only redeeming factor it has is that Sephiroth is cool, and Tifa is hot or something. That's about it.

It's not the worst game I've played. It's not even the worst Final Fantasy I've played (That reward goes to FF2 or FF3, probably FF3.) but I just really don't think I can actually recommend this. I can only hope that the remake is better when I finally get around to playing them in 2030.

TL;DR: I don't really like this game, and I think Final Fantasy X is FAR better. Like, it's not even CLOSE. Go play Final Fantasy X. Better gameplay, better story, better graphics since it's not a PS1 game, better in literally every way.

edit: if you dont GUESS the correct code for the final huge materia correctly you PERMANENTLY miss a materia. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid as ♥♥♥♥ design.
