Skyrim. A game so good that Bethesda just decided to quit making new games. they just made Skyrim 4 more times.

One of my favorite games of all time. I read many of the negative reviews and what I can say is many of them have a problem with things like the combat system but don't seem to grasp that you are literally a peasant. You don't know how to fight from the get go. You need to learn how to fight and equally as important earn/steal/buy armor to survive a fight. the Progression system is one of the best I've ever seen in any game. It really emphasizes how much more difficult it was to be a peasant in feudal society and how much power, influence, and wealth the nobles had.
