Thankfully, Sony backtracked on their requirement to sign into PSN in order to play this game, and we are able to play without needing to create an additional account. PSN has a history of data breaches and there is no justification for needing it for PC games.

The game itself is great. Moment to moment gameplay makes you feel like a badass and is oftentimes more cinematic than most game trailers you see. Playing with a squad of friends is where this game shines the most. Your games will devolve into pure chaos as you crawl your way to objectives, and on higher difficulties every victory will feel incredibly satisfying.

First want to put it out there that I did not mind the iteration of the game at release. I expected an expanded Rodina and I felt I got that. 6.5/10. Take that for what you will.

Almost eight years later, after a constant barrage of impactful updates, this game has steadily become one of my all-time favorites. So much to do and see, and so many community activities to participate in. Developer trust matters, especially for live service games. Hello Games has worked hard to earn that trust back from its fans after years of elevating the game past what was originally advertised, all for free. 9/10.

Imagine if Blizzard's quality art team had a development studio to match, and they made an mmo-lite. You would come very close to imagining this game. The one field area we have so far is packed with events, loot, and secret encounters. The procedural dungeons offer an experience that-- for the first time for me in any mmo-- compels you to explore rather than blaze through. The combat and movement is responsive and feels satisfying, though sometimes it feels like enemy aoe's extend outside their telegraphs. Or maybe I just need to git gud.

The characters are all beautifully designed and there's a character and weapon combo that fills a niche for nearly everyone. I would love to see more attention being placed on each character's back story and personality moving forward. Currently our characters are a silhouette, some stats and abilities, and little else.

In light of how involved the devs are with this game and its community, I am optimistic that this game is only going to get better. Wayfinder will eventually be free to play once it leaves early access, but I consider $20 one hell of a deal for a game as good as this.

Even as millions of dollars are constantly being funneled into Star Citizen's production, Cloud Imperium's proven team of engineers and artists reach for the Holy Grail of space simulation that the single developer of Rodina has already claimed. What Rodina lacks in visual polish and superficial content, it more than makes up for with a flawlessly seamless harmony between interstellar, planetary, and ship-based gameplay. Ever wanted the ability to fight hull fires in your custom made ship as it plummeted rapidly through the atmosphere of an undiscovered planet? That I know of, Rodina is the only space simulator currently with that capacity.

Good - You'll get a space flight sim experienced that you've only been able to fantasize. This is what Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous hope to be some day.

Bad - The game is still in tentative development, and as such, lacks many secondary and tertiary features that ought to populate a gamespace as open and as unhindering as Rodina's. Rest assured, however, that the developer is working on truly solid foundations, and given time, Rodina will be soaked with features.
