Before you read this.
I'm a huge Patapon fan. To say Patapon is my favourite game is an understatement. This game basically shaped and changed me as a kid, I replay Patapon 1 - 3 every year or two, so I might be biased on reviewing this and assumed you have played the games originally.

There is no input delay.
If you’ve heard people saying this remaster has input delay, it doesn't. Patapon 1 always had insanely tight timing to nail the perfect beat. Patapon 2's Normal diffculty is nearly identical as 1 in terms of timing tolerance but they are slightly more forgiving. Dust off your PSP and try Patapon 1, the first game is just that tight in terms of timing. If there is a delay, just go to the setting and adjust the input timing according to your hardware.

Patapon 1+2 Replay is a remastered port of Patapon 1 and 2 from the PSP.
All of the core mechanics, gameplay, and balance are still the exact same as the old games. The Replay additions are: new font (which I really love), higher resolution assets, 60fps (capped), and input timing adjustment. That's it. I'm happy that Patapon is multiplatform and on Steam, but they could do more to this remastered port. Features like auto-saving, options to tweak timing tolerance, and higher quality sound would have been welcome upgrades.

I especially I wish they'd done more for Patapon 1 because it's my least favourite of the 3 games. The tight timing input, no level to grind for equipment, and the hidden information regarding rarepons are my biggest gripe of the first game. At least the first game is shorter than the sequel since that's where the franchise finally fleshed out at its peak.

This port itself isn't perfect. Pan Pakapon is missing a song at the end of its minigame, and the drum UI using arrows instead of the controller's layout (Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo) are just the two that I found. These issues don’t break the game or impact gameplay significantly, but it’s worth knowing the port isn’t completely polished. I'm not sure if they will fix these issues in the future.

Anyway, the port itself is probably around 8/10 in terms of scoring. But the games are definitely worthy of your time.

WHERE IS PATAPON 3?

The Great Ace Attorney is a spin-off of the Ace Attorney series, a visual novel with the theme of being a lawyer. This is a great entry if you haven't played Ace Attorney. Most of the time you are investigating, collecting evidence, and piecing the puzzle together like a detective. There are no multiple outcomes, just one correct answer. So, you'll be tested if you can piece the story with the evidence you have. It's not an accurate lawyer sim and you are here just for the puzzle & story beat.

This game takes place at the end of the 19th century and the dawn of the 20th century. I may be biased because I recently read some Sherlock Holmes and Arsene Lupin novels, but I can not overstate how amazing the setting is. By being limited to the technology of that era, the cases and story progression are engaging. There are no fingerprints, DNA readings, channelling, and so on. Most of the time you are trying to persuade the jury that your theory is sound and correct. They will have a hard time because the truth is outrageously insane, it's your job to make them believe.

Compared to the Ace Attorney Trilogy, these are easy puzzles. I have fewer problems in court cases and things piece together easily. Because of that, some characters can be really dumb when you already know what is going on. It definitely takes its time until the 2nd game (Resolve) where difficulty finally ramps up.

Initially, things are slow and some story plots are left hanging. However, the cases in these games are building up to the grand finale in the Resolve. When it finishes, it REALLY finishes. This is by far my favourite conclusion of an Ace Attorney game, which is funny because you need to play 2 games to finally conclude. The production quality of this game is high. Each character has their own soundtrack theme (absolute bangers), and characters animate and pose like they are hand-drawn.

Honestly, I'm very happy that I was able to experience this game. When the Shu Takumi (game director) wants to cook, he REALLY can cook. Just like Ghost Trick. This is 100% recommended by me, you just need a little bit of patience to enjoy the beginning.

Despite this DLC being at the bottom of my tier list, I think it has its strong positives which are Joshua Graham and the beautiful environment. The factions in this DLC suck, I don't care much of the characters other than Joshua, and the main story is whatever. But Joshua alone sells this DLC because he is a character that is deeply flawed. His morals are like the base game factions, ambiguous yet he truly believes in his own principle. This DLC is probably like 6/10 for me. All New Vegas DLCs are good and must be played, this DLC included.
