Similar game loop to Vampire Survivors, excep with BOATS!

It's a fun little game, and the price is right. Can't wait to see what they come up with as development progresses.

Yes, it's a little like "Skyrim - In Space", but honestly the combat is so good it really sets it apart. So, if you like Skyrim/New Vegas, but felt the janky combat let it down, this is the sweet spot.

Great story, lots of side systems (base building, outpost management, crafting etc.) with a little something for everyone. Surprisingly few bugs for a Bethesda RPG, though the latter is very subjective, YMMV.

This is an absolutely adorable game, my one gripe was that early on it felt like a chore to manage the resturant. Once I figured out that can train your employees and turn them into super robots and all you have to do is mash wasabi, it's nothing but gravy!

Totally commended, and honestly makes me want to look at a steamdeck :)

Some people love timed missions, some people tolerate timed missions and some people hate timed missions.

I'm part of the latter group and so far it's been 100% timed missions. I'll have to wait until someone comes out with a mod that changes things, because at it is, I find myself feeling incredibly frustrated by the game, and stopped playing it entirely.

It is a shame really, because it seems that there are a lot of really neat features in the game, but they had to pick the absolutely worst mechanic from XCOM EU/EW (bomb missions) and make every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mission like it.

Great idea, I love the concept that they were going for, but along the way they forgot what makes a game "good". The basic bits, like walking feels incredibly jarring. The cover system is fairly annoying and doesn't mesh well in my opinion. Worse than the walking is the driving, it's a step back to 2005. There are 3 cars, slow fast and heavy, each one drives very badly and the traffic is on rails, where all other cars drive at 15mph.

I could however live with that, if the game would let me play something other than a retarded intro mission to hacking other players. I don't give a flying ♥♥♥♥ about other players and I'd like to ignore that. Nope, only way I could close the mission map screen was alt+f4. If there was some way of circumventing this, it wasn't immediately obvious to me, so in the bin it goes.

If this were a retail box, I'd probably take it back, not worth the money for me, but if you don't mind the forced missions and such, you might enjoy the open world features like car stealing and whatnot.

To quote Graham Smithy from Rock, Paper, Shotgun:

"The game is sloppy controls which cause you to constantly do the wrong thing accidentally with disastrous consequences; is inconsistently interactive world design; is a cover system whereby you get stuck on scenery or it guesses incorrectly where you want to move. The game is insta-fail stealth missions, wave-defense missions, escort missions, missions where what the characters say and what the objective is don’t match up. The game is five crashes to desktop, including two which required me to reboot my machine before it would reload. The game is restrictive objectives which don’t make use of the possibilities provided by the open city or the hacking mechanics, and checkpoint positions that force you to re-watch short cutscenes or re-perform rote actions after every death."

Which is pretty spot-on.

In spite of the rather lackluster reviews, I rather enjoyed myself with this game. Of course it's not a traditional XCOM game, but it's a terrific 3rd person tactical shooter set in the XCOM universe.

I don't really care for the AC games, nor do I think the assassin activities in this game are particularly interesting, but the open sea combat and piracy are bloody brilliant. It makes for a good game in its own right!
