Fantastic single-player experience. No EA nonsense (just a mildly annoying Origin launcher), great gameplay, story and characters. Doesn't try to be anything other than a good, solid, story-based experience and it's stronger because of it.

Combat feels a bit unresponsive at times; not sure how much is 'git gud' and how much is the combat system being clunky. The number of times I've died because I pressed dodge or block but Cal didn't *actually* dodge or block is awfully high. Enemies frequently send you reeling when they slip past your guard, leading to very easily getting stunlocked to death. Combat against hordes of weak enemies is fun, but combat against two or three strong-ish enemies is hell.

Jank aside, when the combat works as intended it really flows. By no means should my hopelessness at video games count as a negative in this case.

This game was amazing 12 years ago, and it's amazing now.

8/10 because honestly the graphics, menus and controls are a little dated, but it's still one of my favourite games ever and the PC port only improved it.

Possibly the best game of its kind that I've ever played. The only competitor is Saints Row 3, which is better in many ways, but also doesn't quite achieve the sheer ridiculousness of SRIV.

Okay, Saints Row 3 is pretty damn ridiculous. But this instalment really turns it up to eleven. No, fifteen. It's hours upon hours of utter insanity. Despite the nonsensical story, the villain somehow manages to be one of the most compelling in modern gaming. Ridiculous.

Early Access Review
As the game is now, I cannot categorically recommend it. However, this is mostly due to the simple fact that it is an Early Access game, and as such is not yet finished. As such, this IS a positive review with the caveat of EA, aimed at both potential buyers and providing feedback for the devs.

As it stands, the game has a lot of promise and I think it will be highly enjoyable once it is complete. As a spectacle fighter it's definitely enjoyable, but it does get old quite quickly at the moment. The combat system plays well and feels decently broad, albeit a little shallow. I haven't tried out all the RWBY girls yet, but they seem sufficiently distinct in playstyle. The enemies are good, though lacking variety at this point.

In short, there's a laundry list of things I hope and expect to see once the game reaches full release, and I will note a few of the most impactful here so nobody is misled:

- A full campaign. This one's a no-brainer, it should just be a matter of time. As of now, the game does not go anywhere much.

- A more responsive camera and/or a targeting system. I played with an Xbox controller, meaning I had to use the right analog stick to direct my camera, and it felt awfully clunky. Similarly, some way to snap to a target like most 3D/iso brawler games have would not go amiss.

- Depth of customisation. Each character has three special moves with two linear upgrades each, plus long-term 'achievement'-like unlocks and a small number of generic upgrades. I would love to see some more options for customising loadout as the game progresses.

- Optimisation. It's no secret that my computer is low-end, but I expect to play most games in fullscreen mode without dropping below 24 fps (gasp). This is not the case with RWBY as it stands. I am currently forced to play in 640x400 resolution in order to achieve reasonable framerates, and that's not cool -- especially for a game with relatively simple graphics. Just Cause 3, this is not.

In short, I can recommend the game as it stands only to other RWBY fans. I think some context is required to appreciate the content we have so far, as the show - and by extension, the game - relies a lot on the characters to drive it and make it interesting. I would compare it to the Legend of Korra game in this regard -- you can play it without watching the show, but you likely won't enjoy it a lot.

As a final aside, do note that a number of 'Features' listed on the store page have not yet made it into the game as of the current moment: the storyline, locations and enemies are all very bare-bones right now, I've yet to see tangible evidence of this new villain, and there are no achievements or rewards that I am able to see (with the possible exception of the 'kill 300 Grimm with this skill to unlock a bonus upgrade' thing).

I know very little about Metal Gear as a franchise. In fact, my knowledge is pretty much limited to what I've picked up from Snake in SSB.

That is enough to tell me that Revengeance (sorry, REVENGEANCE) is a horse of a completely different - and pretty badass - colour. Rocking soundtrack (A Stranger I Remain = pure adrenaline in audible form), inventive and responsive hack-and-slash gameplay and a hefty dose of self-awareness combine to create a game that is some of the most fun I have ever had in the action genre.

Forced is a beautiful game and clearly a labour of love on the part of its creators. I picked it up to play with one other friend, but I'm excited to try 3- and 4-player mode sometime in the future. It's hectic fun, challenging without being too grindy or rage-inducing. It's a charming, colourful top-down ARPG hack-and-slash with puzzle elements, with a silent protagonist (or four) backed up by a surprisingly witty supporting cast, vibrant level design and a solid and uncomplicated - yet functional - combat and progression system. Thoroughly recommend, though I hear the single-player mode is nothing to write home about. The true pleasure of this game, though, lies in the co-op mode. Grab a friend or three and dive right in.
