The "game" stops being scary in any capacity when you realise that it doesn't want you dead. It's too busy pushing its poorly crafted story down your throat and washing it down with heavy handed vulgar marxist rhetoric. If there was more game and less awful, high handed dialogue then it might have stood a chance but frankly it seems to be too concerned with being the intellectual saviour of video games to realise that in order to do that it needs to embrace the qualities of the artfrom (i.e. the GAME part) rather than simply try to make a vaguely interactive film. I honestly can't believe this was written by a man who is allowed to lecture people in a university. Not a patch on its predecessor, Dark Descent.
