It's a great game for the most part in the beginning there were some serious game breaking issues that caused alot of players to write bad reviews which genuinely are understandable I.E. losing copters and gear to bugs and glitches. Players were experiencing losing inventory when traveling from the Deep Desert to the world map and vice versa which was a huge issue that Funcom needed to fix which took them a while to resolve.

Right now the current state of the game is mostly favorable there are still instances where sometimes vehicles can fall through the map however it's very rare like maybe 1-2% of players experience this issue however Funcom has been replacing the vehicles rather quickly after issuing a report. I've seen them replacing them in less than a few hours so that's good news.

The good: Hagga Basin experience is amazing and is honestly the best part of the game experience in my opinion which if you take your time and don't speed through the tiers you can get a solid 100-200 hours out of it. It's honestly the most deeply rewarding and satisfying survival game experience I have ever played. Creating a base and customizing is one of the greatest features and honestly allows for some amazing creativity and grand bases that I have seen or ever witnessed in Hagga Basin. The core gameplay loop of Hagga is really fun going out and mining resources can be a grand adventure sometimes. Traveling your first time through the Hagga Rift tunnels and trying to get Etheryte Crystals and exploring all the different caves and enemy compounds is really fun. I would implore players to really explore as much as possible and hold off on jumping the gun to getting your first Thopter. Honestly though getting the Thopter is an amazing achievement in itself because it really opens up the game but after that the exploration for the most part is vastly reduced since you beeline from point A to B at that point which leads to not as much exploration however you can still have a great experience things are just faster.

Cons: I'm going to attempt to explain some of the Cons of the game which honestly really don't start to even become a major issue until you hit the late endgame of Dune Awakening. One major Con of the game is after you reach Tier 5 of Dune's Hagga Rift experience you will eventually be lead to the Deep Desert portion of the game. This is an entire 180 of everything you've currently experienced in Hagga which was a mostly PvE chill leisurely do things at your own pace without worry of too much danger other than the Worm occasionally avoiding. In the Deep Desert it turns into a group oriented competitive PvP player experience where if you want to truly excel you are going to have to form a guild with other players and work towards common goals.

The solo experience of Deep Desert can be done but at much less favorable success rate. Especially when it comes to Mining spice or obtaining Tier 6 Schematics in PvP shipwrecks and testing stations. The Deep Desert is a huge area compared to Hagga Basin over 4 times larger Hagga is 64 square kilometers while Deep Desert is 576 Square kilometers insanely massive difference in size. The issue with Deep desert is that it is mostly empty space apart from the few rock islands and shipwrecks there isn't really alot of useful space other than distance covered to get from one spot to another.

The problem with Deep Desert atleast for most people this can make or break the game for them is that Deep Desert is split halfway down the middle where the bottom south half is PvE and the northern top half is PvP. Most players go into the deep desert looking for Tier 6 Materials such as Stravidium and Titanium which is used to make Plastanium. This used to be a major issue since you could only access the materials from the northern half of the map which was PvP and you were extremely prone to getting Griefed, Ganked and losing your thopter and possibly all of your items. If you unfortunately landed on sand and thumped and eaten by the worm you basically lose everything. They have since fixed that problem mostly by putting a ton of nodes along the A row of the map making it really safe to mine the nodes now.

The biggest issue is trying to get spice sand since that is truly the most sought after resource of the endgame. You will need to gather spice eventually. Funcom since alleviated some of the worry by putting PvE spice fields closer to the E row but you will only see occasional small and medium spice fields which get mined rather quickly by all the pve players so it's still very competitive. The Bulk of the spice however is located int the Northern part of the E row which is full PvP however you can find Large Spice Fields and more Mediums out there.

The large spice fields which hold over 250k spice sand is where it's really at and if you're lucky you can find alot of mediums out there too. The problem here is that you are in a full PvP sandbox and everything goes so you will have to worry about other players trying to take you out and push you off of spice fields so they can gather for themselves. This also goes for the Shipwrecks and Testing stations that hold the best gear in the game you will be pushed out and bullied if you are a solo player unless you can somehow in offchance grab gear when no one is around which honestly can be extremely frustrating. Funcom seems to be pushing and enticing group play with bigger guilds in the Deep Desert which honestly wasn't something I initially wanted to do but after joining a bigger guild and going out in groups the experience has opened up for me and I've been having a decent time going out and PvP'ing and getting gear.

I think the issue here is that Funcom needs to cater to both sides of the playerbase the one's who don't mind PvP'ing and fighting for their resources with potential losses and the PvE crowd that loves playing the game without the worry of losing everything and being bullied by a large griefing guild that is gatekeeping the better loot. Funcom has stated they want to add more stuff for pve players to do but in the game's current state there really isn't a whole lot for pve players to do. Honestly the game has started to become stale for the PvP crowd as well since after a few weeks of doing the Landsraad and the repeating loot tables of the deep desert you've pretty much seen everything the game has to offer. So at this point alot of players are just waiting for more endgame content which will hopefully come soon.

All in all I do recommend this game to players that enjoy survival games but understand that once you finish the core story experience the endgame changes into more of a social group goal oriented competitive PvP experience that you may or may not want to partake in and that choice is entirely yours to make. If that's the case I would wait until Funcom starts updating the world map with more pve stuff for players to do they would really benefit on a better pve endgame experience that has long lasting endgame loop keeps players engaged.

This is a great game and a true successor to the series almost a little too much. The only thing that really bothers me and I should have done my research is that there is no VR support even though VR was pushed on this game like it was going to be this amazing thing when in reality it's only 3 VR missions and exclusive to PSVR. Difficulty seems to be ramped up from previous AC games and not in a good way just be prepared to dodge an infinite amount of missiles on hard difficulty and up. Overall the story is pretty decent I'm around 2/3's of the way through but what is really great is the soundtrack there are some really great symphonic and dramatic tracks on this game that really bring it all together.

Online: Online is kind of garbage I wish there was coop missions or something because the pvp element of dogfighting is pretty stupid IMO especially online because it's all about loadouts and multi missile fire and forget tactics there's no real draw to pull me in to something like that. Co-op missions with realistic squadron based tactics would have made this a lot more fun and would have brought the AC the community together in a way that's never been done before.

Overall I think they hit their mark with it being a great traditional AC single player experience although there could have been some innovation in the series because I did feel like I was playing more of the same which isn't a bad thing. Here's to hoping this game reignites the series with more games to come and hopefully better online features.

Early Access Review
It's really fun I just wish there were more modes and weapons with more going on. This game has the basics down to a science it's fun to dodge, shoot and block bullets but it does get boring fighting the same waves over and over again.

Bought it on sale for 10 dollars I mean if you do the math the amount of fun you get out of this game is depending entirely on you. Yes it has some bugs and other random bs the game is hard to pick up so I would suggest watching some twitchers or youtubers play the game so you know how it works before you buy. I can't complain though paying 9.99 for this game I feel was definitely worth it I mean we pay so much more for entertainment like at the movies a ticket costs over 13 dollars so I feel my purchase for a game that has limitless play value was worth it.
