I can't begin to explain the joy, fun design, challenging puzzles, and pure discovery that is this silly little game. It's a fantastic series and incredibly well made. It's one of my biggest recommendations for indie games that I would encourage most of my friends to try. I would give more detail but I enjoyed walking into this metroidvania puzzler blind.

So this game is an endless runner like many mobile cash grab apps before it. The mechanic and achievements are nothing more than a simple grind of time. This is not anything I would recommend folks to seek out or try. I would imagine you're checking if this is worth it from a bundle deal. Nah. I'd say skip it unless you're looking for easy 100%/perfect achievement games.

Just not my cup of tea. The artwork and presentation is great for the game while heavily inspired from classic point and click adventure stories. Yet, the puzzles are absurd or poorly designed with terrible in world clues. Unless I wanted to spend another two months trying to complete this, I had to use walkthrough for half of the game because the clues are too vague or poorly explained. I wanted to like it, I really wanted to. Yet, no, and now I regret picking up the rest in the collection.

Robocop: Rogue City - it's just ridiculously good for a game that I don't think folks and fans were expecting.

The story takes place with between films Robocop 2 and Robocop 3. Our main hero is still voiced by Peter Weller, himself, which doesn't distract and helps to further cement one into the world of Old Detroit while throwing multiple, sly easter eggs from all of the movies and lore of Robocop. We begin with a declaration of Rival gangs vying for the attention of "the new guy" who will present themselves as one of the main antagonists.

I don't want to spoil too much but the story here definitely plays well into the series by expanding what was already established in a world meticulously crafted from the films. It just feels incredibly 80s and works to enhance everything. While, also, exploring Robocop's/Alex Murphy's past and struggles as a cyborg. The relationships in the game are believable and well crafted. No one feels out of place.

Gameplay - You're Robocop. It feels great and plays well in the first person shooter aspect. There are the light modern touches of using some RPG elements to upgrades for Robo's personal side arm and skills. Plus, the levels are broken up with some minor missions where you are a police officer by helping the public and issing tickets. It's not Call of Duty and that's perfect here.

The enemies are fun to face and some touch challenges (especially on higher difficulties) with more of the tankier/harder enemies in the game.

As Robo upgrades his skills, it opens up more options on how to take down large groups. The quick dash and sheild were indespensable to me when reaching the end of the game. Dodge and weave, son!

The graphics look fantastic with ray-tracing. Like I keep mentioning, you feel immersed in the world and looks fantastic.

Gripes - let me begin, they are actually super minor. Like these are definitely things you'll notice while playing but was easy for me to look past as I continued on.

1. Limited voice actors and some of the enemies just begin to all sound the same like a bad Mark Hamill joker impression. Some voice actors kind of didn't match up well, in my opinion, to their live action counterpart. The OCP Old Man is probably my hardest to get past when he speaks as the original actor Dan O'herlihy has a very unique accent and pitch when speaking.

2. Likewise, some of the character animation models feel super stiff when comparing to more modern games with them just looking dead in their eyes. I kept comparing it to how characters move and talk in the original Mass Effect trilogy. It's not terrible but would have been a chef's kiss with more lifelike expressions of characters/actors who we haven't seen perform in almost two decades. Robocop is one thing, but Lewis, Reed, and others. I know it wasn't there, but man if this was made in the Northlight Engine. Oh well.

3. When bugs happen, they are weird. Sometimes enemies don't always consistently scan. There was once where I couldn't get past a door, but reloading checkpoint fixed it and even progressed me. So nothing game breaking.

Again, all of these again are super minor as the story and gameplay are what make this a fantastic experience. I personally give this a 9/10 and am replaying New Game+ right now. Love this game.

The game is fairly easy as more of a side scrolling walking simulator with minor puzzles. Yet, the joy of this title is the story and beautiful environments. I would cross compare this to titles like the Cave from DoubleFine or really most Double Fine titles. It's quirky, funny, and amazingly imaginative.

If you're look for a quick story and amazing art, give it play.

Xel is essentially a isometric dungeon crawler. It touts that it has puzzles, challenges, and so on, but it is really aimed for kids who just enter the genre. As far as indi titles who tout the same exploration and feel, get HOB. What makes this title lackluster is a hit in all of the following.

Story - I'm an amnesiac protagonist that is beckoned to do a journey with all other characters saying, "rather you than me." It's not that original of a premise and none of the supporting cast has anything memorable except for the Village Elder. My problem, and it could be with the English translation, everyone talks like a sassy 16 year old gay teenager. With unnecessary swearing because it sounds "older and tough," the one girl who has to say "ByyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeE!" each time you have to interact with her, and there isn't any real stakes. Though the game opens telling you about the mature content like death and suicide, I would let a 6 or 8 year old play.

Gameplay: Swing sword, dodge, use specialty items, and always walking. The battle mechanics are simple and I do see where a lot of folks feel they have a hard time hitting enemies as it doesn't track well. Likewise, there isn't really a challenge and when I fought the first boss...it was over as I was thinking it was meant to be a common enemy....which it unfortunately will. The game recycles their bosses and there's (3) types. I'm not spoiling anything here. A lot of times you're reliant on your specialty weapons and some are just painful due to waiting or not completing an animation to trigger the tool.

Now wandering and exploration, there isn't much of it and at time, the menu map just acts clucky. Plus, there are these health flowers which you need to grab for an achievement and extending your health bar. They're not marked on the map by default while chests, audio logs, ladders, and warp points are just already on your map. Like I don't understand the choice to just not include it or don't include chests, if it's about exploration. The warp points are somewhat inconsistent and there's even one area that SHOWS a warp point on the map, but it is not in the playable world. Weird bugs.

Ok, now onto the bugs, I wish this game had a better autosave because crashes always happen at the worst moments. If you didn't get to that Pylon, you're retracking a lot of steps. I've had a few times where I found locations-consistently, dropping me off the map to a game over. If I don't go back and select a specific location in the map, when I hit start and move, I can hear menu selection beeps while walking. Finally, the character stops moving/ignores your inputs, while the game is somewhat still playing.

I think there was some ideas that could have set this game up to something more. Yet, in every aspect, it just does it with mediocrity because it isn't challenging, the story is subpar and brought down with horrific dialogue/no real motivation besides plot device, and lackluster gameplay which bugs out in just the worst places and ways.

Unless you're going for an easy 100% or you're looking to find a simple Action RPG for a young kid, there are just better games. Again, I recommend Hob which exceeds in all aspects where this game falls short for mature gamers.

I'd recommend this game. It's a fun little puzzle defense game. Simple, easy to pick up and gets easier once you unlock more attacks.

Early Access Review
It's a dumb game to pass time and I picked this up in a random bundle. It's essentially if you take the idea of Ghostrunner and remove all the flash or fine tuned controls.

it's not hard at all and you can spam through levels eventually to beat the game. If you're looking for cheap 100% easy games, then sure! Play this one. Otherwise, this felt like some kids college project and decided they try to make a few bucks selling keys.

I don't really have much to review or add. There just is not much there.

Fun fact - as of Aug 2023 - If you get all achievements, it won't count in steam as 100%. I would never bother with this again.

Great little linear story with kooky characters and burton-esque world-building. The gameplay mechanics are easy to pick up and play with the card battle system. Yet, this was all for the story and world. It's unique, fun, and on par with games like Psychonauts. It's a recommendation on my lists.
