These guys make the best brawlers out there. Really fun, tactical and skill base combat. And his one is a roguelike too! Think Sifu meets Hades in terms of mechanics, but in a Cyberpunk setting. Awesome fun little gem.

For the Emprahhh!!
An amazing old-school but new game. It's gameplay is simple, you drop on a mission with your buddies and start splatting some aliens, all you need after a busy work day.
The game mixes mechanics from the FPS and beat-em up genres, where a lot of the combat is focused on melee and you have to be constantly in a crowd control mode, prioritizing enemies and systematically thinning their ranks to avoid being overwhelmed. Melee combat is very rewarding with a high skill ceiling and maybe a bit of too steep learning curve, but once you master it you feel like a true Son of the Emperor, delivering His righteous wrath to the enemies of Mankind. Execution animations are very satisfying and help establish your dominance over the Tyranids.
The campaign is good, not too short either, some 8-10 hours, and then you get operations mode where the meat and potatoes of the game is, where you play as side squads completing missions tasked by Titus and his main force. It's a very cool trick that gives cohesion to the end game game mode. There's a lot of unlockables to keep you going and difficulty levels to master so you can get hooked for a while. It gets a bit repetitive over time but I haven't get bored of it yet.
The 40K setting is amazing and the game's art shows the unviverse in all it's dark glory. Lots of grandiose and epic events to watch and be part of.
The game is well optimized and has good performance for the level of looks it has.

For me it's very close top perfection. 9.5 out of 10.

This game has no business being this fun.
It's got some very simple mechanics but the devs managed to make the game feel powerful and meaningful, you're the sole survivor of the light, holding the darkness at bay. The art style is very very good and there are a bunch of levels to keep you interested for a while. For the endgame there's an endless mode where you can challenge yourself to higher scores if you're into that sort of thing.
For me it's worth the full price, on a sale, it's a steal

This game was so cool back in the day. It's true the controls take some getting used to, but once you master the dynamics of its combat system it's a real gem.
Skillful, timing based combat that rewards you for being careful and patient and punishes you for your mistakes... Sounds a lot soulsy to me, though it released years before.
the graphics for their time were very good also (there's a mod now called Blade HD which improves textures and effects by a lot) and it had a wide array of different enemies with varying AI /combat patterns. I really enjoyed it back in the day.
Couldn't believe it when it was re-released, I only found out by a random comment from some guy on a classic Doom group in FB, so glad I did.

This is amazing. Red Faction Guerrilla was one of the best games I've ever played, and I've played a lot. It has a lot of entwined game mechanics that work togheter for making an excellent open world FPS.

The story is about a mining engineer who gets caught in the middle of a rebellion between the Red Faction, an insurgent group of martian "terrorists", and the Earth Defense Force, a dictatorial and abusive government imposed by strength. Throughout the game you get to see the EDF's methods for control including general bullying and shooting civilians on sight. You rapidly gain a distaste for the folks and the game really makes you feel like you are fighting the good fight. You are really fighting for the freedom of the people and trying to bring justice and liberty to mars.

Along the game you have several progression systems: first one is salvage, the game's currency. With it you can buy various improvements for your character ranging from weapons, to armor to satellite assisted enemy detection to jetpacks, that way the game keeps you hooked as you empower your arsenal with new tools of mass destruction and abilities.
Then you have morale. People´s morale affects the reaction of martian people to your actions. The higher a zone's morale the more likely people are to join you on your fight against the EDF.
Finally there's control. Control affects how strong the presence of EDF is in a given zone. To liberate one sector you need to drop control to 0 and complete some main quest missions.

You also have side quests called guerrilla missions which are general actions taken against the EDF. Raiding a base of operations, intercepting an officer with orders to kill civilians, or mounting the missile turret of a guy named jenkins to blast EDF property and cause millions of credits worth of damage. The side quests are mostly fun to play (excepting the driving ones, I feel they are a bit of time wasters and distract you from the actual action, maybe if you had to run from EDF vehicles shooting at you...) and are a good way to earn more salvage, drop control and raise morale. Also when you finish enough of them the game rewards you with an improved tech to buy for your weapons (more ammo, extra rockets, smart targeting, etc.).

The remastered version is an improvement over the original in which the textures are definitely better (here's a video comparison ) and some of the effects have been greatly improved like the lightining from the arc thrower, the explosions and gun fire. Also the sound has improved quite a bit. It's not that big of a change but it's a welcome improvement.
I can't vouch for this but the changelogs are ridden with other bug fixes and improvements, I myself have had a single crash to desktop but I remember the original wasn't all that stable anyway. A nuissance but nothing awfully terrible.

For 20 dollars this game is a steal. You'll get a lot of hours of entertainment I have 48 on the original and didn't even finish it whole).

I really liked the original game, I really like the remastered version. Will definitely use the excuse to play it again.

This game is excellent, very fun and skillfull play. Tons of weapons, perks and stats to upgrade and a persistent xp system that makes it highly involving. I find it one of the best hidden gems in steam.

This is an amazing game, and real fun to play. FPS + Strategy, lots of opportunities for skilled gunmanship and teamplay. It makes for long matches but which never get dull, the constant push to the enemy base gives a nice feeling of tension and the objective being part of a team effort means you fight for "something greater than yourself". You can play offensive roles or defensive depending what you like best and that's even without going into the Strategy aspect of the game. I really like this game very much and was really happy when I saw Resurrection going to happen. Worth th 20 U$D all the way.

I bought this game expecting dissapointment, as everyone was talking quite badly of it, however, against my best judgment, I hoped for a fun Warhammer 40000 game, and I'm glad to say I got what I wanted.
The game is quite simple, basically allowing you to fire your ranged weapon, hitting on melee and using a special ability. Still it manages to capture the dark feeling and thrill of battle of the Warhammer 40000 world. And endless, relentless tide of enemies charging loudly toward you, and you, the space marine, standing tall, bolter in one hand chainsword in the other, the only bastion of hope for mankind's defense. As some other user said, there is something to spreading the love of the emperor to the sound of bolter rounds.
Graphically the game isn't a wonder, and ingame it doesn't have many configuration options, but it can be made a lot better by enabling antialiasing and anisotropic filtering in the NVidia or AMD control panel as stated here: http://www.tweaktown.com/guides/601/the_simple_antialiasing_and_anisotropic_guide/index3.html
Also it seems the devs have made a patch since some of the reviews since the game now supports widescreen resolutions quite fine. Don't know about the controller problems tough.
Only shame is the lack of online coop, with that this game could really shine for the $10 price tag.
8/10.
