anyone who expected another dark souls is dumb
anyone who is complaining about difficulty is bad
anyone saying the combat is just attack and deflect is a reductionist

not saying the game is perfect. just don't be dumb and bad and you'll enjoy it.

If you can get past the incredibly intimidating new-player experience you will have loads of fun guaranteed. If the game wasn't so damn good, people wouldn't be trying so hard to keep new players playing until the point where the epiphany occurs and you finally know what the hell you're doing. This game has one of, if not the best, F2P model of any game right now, and contains other factors that are rare in F2P games and are done very well (i.e. story, lore, music, and the like). Also, unlike most other F2P games, the devs of this one actually give a ♥♥♥♥ about their game and have changed/added many things in response to community feedback. The community is pretty nice most of the time as well, and most players will be happy to assist with any content and answer any question you have. This is my 2nd most played game next to Dota 2, and unlike that game, this game is actually fun. Play it.

went f2p after people already bought it and it seems the compensation isn't enough

Great cast of characters and it seems to be pretty balanced, but this port is pretty bad.

List of known issues:
Keyboard controls seem to be non-functional for the most part
Game only supports 3 resolutions
Does not work well with Steam overlay, any inputs will transfer to the game and do unwanted things like opening menus, changing settings, etc
Network lobby is lacking in anything other than simply starting the game
Alt-tabbing disconnects you from your lobby

Other than these annoyances, the game is good. I am personally new to fighting games, but from what I can tell the gameplay is solid. Is it worth 25 bucks? Probably, yeah.
