What's important is that we make sure the big studios and publishers listen to us. Great game. Good fun. Buy it if you haven't. Here's to hoping Sony and Arrowhead don't backtrack the backtrack.

Edit:

Never mind. Seems like Sony has taken a different offensive, disallowing users from non-PSN countries from being able to buy the game. This also seems to apply to other games, such as Ghosts of Tsushima.

Be careful of buying Sony games. It seems like they're gearing up for Round 2.

I'm enjoying the experience of this game. I decided to bite the bullet to relive the days of going to the card shop every weekend to play Vanguard with my friends, something I miss every so often. For that, it's been worth the money. If I didn't have the nostalgia, I wouldn't buy at full price. I haven't bought any of the DLC yet. I may buy the season pass in the near future, though.

For returning players, the game will be feel very similar, but also brand new. So many new mechanics while the core of the game remains the same. A new way to play an old favorite. Some of the old meta decks are also buildable and playable almost to the exact same degree. Majesty Lord Blaster, DOTE, and Phantom Blaster Overlord all exist and have the same, or very similar support to what they were like in the old days of the TCG. I give this a plus. This also matches the IRL card game that underwent what looks like a format change of some kind.

As for the actual game, there are gripes with translation, but the tutorial is understandable and the story is pretty generic, but still fun to follow along. It's easy to earn enough points to buy card packs, and each card pack has a good amount of cards in it. Doing just one story fight will net you around 2000 points, and most of the packs are 300 points to buy, making the grind for cards not too bad. On top of that, the starter decks all seem pretty strong.

Controls feel pretty good. Game runs great. A few bugs here and there. Overall, I'd recommend it.

As it stands, the gameplay is true to the rest of the Halo franchise. For those that haven't played Halo, this is NOT Call of Duty, or Battlefield where Time-to-Kill is quick. It takes effort for each kill. You also don't get loadouts, really. So you have to use the guns on the map. Everyone's on a level playing field because of this, and if you get stomped, it's because YOU suck.

I'm an avid board gamer in real life with a copy of Scythe and Invaders from Afar. I have a pretty modest sized collection of them. Scythe is by far one of my favorite board games, and will probably remain one of my favorite board games for a long time. I'm able to table the physical copy among my friends quite often, as its one of our favorites to play. We enjoy deep strategy games that force us to calculate, and plan ahead many many turns in advance. However, we do sit around for 2+ hours on this one because we do so much planning. I play with a super smart group!

Enough about the physical game... Let's talk about this one!

The graphics are quite beautiful and true to the physical game. The interface is obviously much different, but you can draw the parallels pretty easily. If you own the physical game, pick this up. It'll be pretty quick for you to catch on to.

If you've never played the physical board game, I can't recommend it enough. However, if you'd like to use this one to determine whether or not you'd like to buy the physical game, it comes with praise from me. It's a true copy of the original board game and plays just like it. If you'd prefer a more pure board game experience, and you've got Tabletop Simulator, there's a Scythe DLC for that as an option. It's also only $8. This one will automate everything for you, you just have to make the decisions.

If you enjoy strategy board games with worker placement, resource gathering, a ridiculous amount of depth, and a Cold War-esque threat of combat, you're in for a real treat with this one. Don't let the appearance of complexity faze you, it's super simple once you understand the mechanics. The mechanics should also only take a few turns to get the hang of.

It's hard to put into words just how wonderful this game is. Make no mistake. It's 100% worth buying if you like card games even the slightest bit.

4 Characters (at the time of writing this) with each having an insanely unique playstyle that allows you to get an incredible amount of replay value out of it. Bored of one class? There's 3 others to check out and try to "Slay the Spire" with. Slayed the Spire with one class? Welcome to a new difficulty for that class. Did it again with one class? Welcome to another difficulty.

Even if you never ascend to slay the spire... Your failures make it so much better. This time, a new deck is created due to the RNG that the game has. You get into critical thinking for efficiency and "Did this card serve me well last time I used it?" is a question that will pop up in your head quite often. You'll find you follow a set deck recipe for your own favorite decks that "Just work".

If you like card games even just a little bit... You'll love this game.

I've spent about 40 hours on this over 2 weeks.

Great game. I would at least give it a try. Learn the basics in strategy for this game and you'll come to realize it's not entirely RNG. There are ways to mitigate said RNG with rerolls and proper gold management. That's the strategy aspect of it. "What's the best army I can build with the gold and rolls I have?" Top tier army compositions mean everyone will try to get the units they need for those comps. You can take advantage of that as the units for the lesser tier comps will be more common for you, so you get better upgrades.

I haven't played this game much, but it's amazing in the fact that you get to skip the lane phase and do nothing but team fight. There's only team fighting in this MOBA which, to me, was the best part of League of Legends. It's all about how well you can play your hero in the situations you're put in.

Now on to the bads... Unfortunately, there's been an issue with this game. I took a 3 month break only to come back to the same thing. Only 1 new hero and not much had changed as far as the meta went. Come to find out that Stunlock Studios announced a Battle Royale mode for Battlerite at which point I'm not really surprised. Battle Royale genre has really taken off lately. No big deal. SLS has said almost nothing about the original game except that the Battle Royale mode would be added to the game for free as a way to add more content to the game and refresh the player base. Oh sweet. So they're focusing on that. You'd figure they'd still try to focus on the main game and do their balance and communicate with the community... Wrong.

It's been a week now since SLS decided to make Battle Royale a separate game which you have to pay for. The community backlash has been insane, but they still haven't said anything or done anything. Lack of communication and ignoring their main game is just unacceptable.

I'll update this if anything changes, but for now... Don't support this company.

Update: SLS now no longer supports Battlerite. No new content has been made in a couple of years and they've moved on to creating a new game.

Spent a few hours playing this game.

Makes you focus hard and forces the player to adapt to situations quickly. The attack patterns aren't too telegraphed and can be really frustrating.

For that, I thank the game. Hitting a rough patch in life and need something to get my mind off of things. This game was the best pick up for that I could have gotten.
