Im a longtime fan of the baldurs gate series and have played and owned all of previous releases. I was very excited when i heard about baldurs gate 3 being released. I payed and purchased beta or early release access but i soon lost interest after having to download massive patches and having to do so many huge redownloads and losing game play saves. I wasnt to bothered ultimately; i just decided to wait for the official release and enjoy the game.
Now the official release has taken place and ive downloaded 100+ GB of data to install the release which constitutes nearly 10% of my monthly data allotment, and the game refuses to launch with no discernible error. i have spent several hours attempting to troubleshoot this issue with no success. Ive gone through what little information is available from the official website, ive gone through all the normal steam and typical troubleshooting methods with no success. I have 100+ games installed that play with no modification and no issues on my sytem and here we are...
Its troubling that one of the common troubleshooting points is to redownload. This game is likely the largest game in my steam library and its clear to me that the devs have the most inefficient means of patching ive likely ever seen. Its the reason i was forced to stop playing in early access... The extra monetary burden due to excessive download size and corruption of already existing files due to the normal download process is a burden that should be assumed by the developer and not the end consumer or customer.
Ive spent 80+ hours playing early access until i was no longer able to start the game and my issue still exists in release. Perhaps im due a refund... Unfortunate. hopefully this review can change but as for now its a FAIL...

Early Access Review
-4 of 5 -- incomplete game simulator

-2 of 5 -- open world survival

there is a vast amount of beautiful, open world using the unreal 4 engine. emphasis on vast and open, with a heavy dose of empty... gonna need a lot more things to explore aside from the handful of cut and paste, cookie-cutter buildings and houses...

its simple.... Ill add this game to the long list of incomplete, content lacking games i have purchased... emphasis on long list... somehow this game has garnered many positive reviews and a player base. their marketing did their job well cause it sold me. but beyond what is seen in the store page, there just isnt... we'll see what the devs do over time since i seemed to have moved past my refund time limit...

CS:GO Review
I use to play cs when it was a free mod to hl. We would have lan parties at my house while i was in college. I have tried the various iterations and was always dumbfounded by the lack of any new ideology being implemented in the game. While the mod that was made for the first cs was groundbreaking, nothing added to the cs line since has done anything for innovation or advancing the genre. Literally nothing... People still pile up on the 2 or 3 known choke points and dodge back and forth trying to get that one kill on the other guy doing exactly the same thing on the mirror opposite side. Having said that, I bought this game and im immediately not included in the events that are taking place in game because i havnt paid for the privilege of participating... This game is the certain epitomy of the way gaming industry and publishers are spending their time innovating ways to get players money instead of innovating new game mechanics and such. So having said all that i just cant find myself supporting or recommending a game by a company who initially had some groundbreaking, genre defining, titles; but is now just milking its loyal player base with the same old drivel that wasnt even created by valve in the first place... PATHETIC!

this is the first game ive had on steam where i couldnt get any of the content to download due to whatever convoluted process the devs are trying to employ... Fully intended to purchase all the dlc but since i couldnt figure out how to install the free dlc in a couple hours time, i missed out on the sale.... So, im uninstalling, the devs miss out on the money i was about to give them. This is clearly an issue for some time as there are posts about these problems everywhere... None of the user solutions worked for me and the devs dont seem to be so inclined to fix the problem or post a workaround thats official so, no, i cant recomend this game since its unplayable with any additional content....

Wanted to get into this game because there are supposedly some elements that are really appealing to me.... However, I spent all my time in this game just trying to learn the very basics only to be killed over and over, and over, and over..... All of this in the first area you spawn as a new player. Many times I had no clue why guards were attacking and killing me. Then there is an obvious culture of existing players who do nothing but target the newest players in the only areas that are immediately available upon spawn.... Its also apparent that this is an intended and acceptable practice. Basic functions are tedious and strange at best and learning many of them will take a lot of time and patients. Just about the time you think your accomplishing something, someone kills you and they are allowed to take everything you have.

Having said all that, it is a free game so give it a try but i cant recommend this game to anybody in its current state. Since this game has been around for at least several years it hard to be optimistic that there will be any improvement in these areas. The current state of affairs in this game will just drive new players away.... unfortunate...

Early Access Review
An honestly fun game. You build lego ships and battle. You earn exp and upgrade weapons as you play. Having a good premium model is a plus which really removes the obvious advantage of pay-to-win systems. Since the game is still in early access and the devs. are very active, its reasonable to assume that the game will improve. Its free to play so there are no strings attached.
