Surprisingly fun - the concept is great. The catharsis, exploration, and creativity of areas and items are fantastic. I'd be pleasantly surprised if this led to more games, but I'm not sure that's on the table as it could be difficult to expand the narrative.

Fantastic game. I entirely recommend watching a player get to the first boss and decide if it is for you. If you like what you see looking at that, this is a MUST buy. It's fantastic, it breathes the kind of life into the concept of tabletop games that any game designer should envy. This is a game changer, and I cannot recommend this enough. 9/10 and that's only because I was left wanting more. It's the kind of game where there is no amount of "more" that can really burn the concept out.

This is boss rush: the game. If you don't want that, avoid this game at all costs. It is fine on the normal difficulty setting if you don't mind making numerous mistakes. It regenerates your health faster after a mistake, Hard difficulty is probably the intended difficulty, especially since that was the default setting. It lacks panache. It's more akin to a solo senior project in college than a game. The introduction of mechanics of different obstacles during the rhythm sections are too quick, leaving under developed potential opportunities for other game mechanics. The story was threadbare between fights and lacked much wit. The music during a fight is a suggestion, and a bad one at that. When trying to navigate the incorrectly sized musical battle field, you don't have confident auditory guidance. The extra line and space in the field vs a current score's setup are obviously for gameplay concerns, and I get that. However, I think it perverts the entire concept... at least make music on that new scale. That would be refreshing. I don't understand why this is so highly praised. The writing is freshman tier, the coding is mostly decent enough, and the aesthetic clash is like a rough draft. The advice the game gives you is that it's about the journey, not the destination or some bs to make you think you're not struggling through a concept of a game that was given 10 percent of the work it deserves. The Undertale reference to Gaster is terribly out of place. This game oozes a lack of that extra push that it needed. I would be interested in a refined version, but since many reviewers are too busy pretending this is a good game, I doubt the devs will get the critical feedback they need to actually capture lightning in a bottle. I would drink dirty water during a drought, but I wouldn't call it good water. At any rate, I feel these devs got more attention than they bargained for and I hope they sort it out to make this game into an actual gem. The potential is there, but it isn't here.

You can't hijack the train.

Edit: You also can't hijack the trolley.

Good game, got in a humble bundle. Not worth 20 dollars. Would love to play with friends, but the price is way too inhibiting, especially since it's dependent on online multiplayer... would recommend at 5 dollars or less.

It uses multiple decks with no visible option to disable that. Makes the game ♥♥♥♥.
