Very good 2D action platformer/metroidvania-lite. I played this after Silksong wanting to recapture the feeling and I think this game is just as top-notch in terms of combat/bosses, art, atmosphere and writing. Exploration is the one thing this game lacks as the game's story is heavily guided and the world is small and compact, so I'd call it more of a "metroidvania-lite" than a full-fledged metroidvania.

My main criticism is that the normal level progression got kinda stale/repetitive midway through, but it was easily worth pushing onwards as the true ending ties together the story beautifully and has one of the greatest 2D boss fights ever.

Thanks HL2VR mod team/Cabalistic for the fantastic set of HL2 VR mods. I played HL2 and Episode 1 at release ~20 years ago but never got around to Episode 2, so my first playthrough of it was just now in VR. Trying to pick up bombs in the final Strider fight was a little bit wonky, but otherwise it was incredibly immersive to experience this series in VR.

Another magnificent work of art from Team Cherry. Art, music and lore are incredible. Chock-full of really good boss fights and platforming. My main complaint is that parts of this game are definitely tedious (boss runbacks, farming rosaries/side quests, too much good optional content I would never have found without a guide), but overall it was well worth the 50 hour investment.

A decent narrative puzzle adventure game, about the same quality as Red Matter 1. Although this game is twice as long, I think Red Matter 1 was more consistently enjoyable, while RM2 has some stretches that really drag with easy but tedious environmental puzzles and platforming through drab, samey-looking industrial corridors. The gun combat is also as mediocre as it gets in VR and was an unnecessary addition. However, Red Matter 2 definitely has its "high points", most of which revolve around some spectacular visual moments, and the story, while not super memorable, is interesting enough to keep you going through the end.

Light recommendation if you want an atmospheric narrative adventure game and can put up with tedious gameplay at times.

A fun little ~4 hour long VR dungeon crawler. Doesn't do anything spectacular, but everything feels solid. The physics-based melee combat makes knocking undead around crunchy and satisfying, the voxel-esque art style and warm lighting is pleasant on the eyes, and I appreciate the attempt at having a basic plot.

A decent attempt at a mini metroidvania-style campaign. Worth playing, but don't set your expectations too high. I had fun with the new abilities (which can also be used in NG+) and navigating the maze-like level design, but its true the environment is mostly monotonous gray walls, and I finished it in 3 hours.
