Very good 2D action platformer/metroidvania-lite. I played this after Silksong wanting to recapture the feeling and I think this game is just as top-notch in terms of combat/bosses, art, atmosphere and writing. Exploration is the one thing this game lacks as the game's story is heavily guided and the world is small and compact, so I'd call it more of a "metroidvania-lite" than a full-fledged metroidvania.

My main criticism is that the normal level progression got kinda stale/repetitive midway through, but it was easily worth pushing onwards as the true ending ties together the story beautifully and has one of the greatest 2D boss fights ever.

Thanks HL2VR mod team/Cabalistic for the fantastic set of HL2 VR mods. I played HL2 and Episode 1 at release ~20 years ago but never got around to Episode 2, so my first playthrough of it was just now in VR. Trying to pick up bombs in the final Strider fight was a little bit wonky, but otherwise it was incredibly immersive to experience this series in VR.

Another magnificent work of art from Team Cherry. Art, music and lore are incredible. Chock-full of really good boss fights and platforming. My main complaint is that parts of this game are definitely tedious (boss runbacks, farming rosaries/side quests, too much good optional content I would never have found without a guide), but overall it was well worth the 50 hour investment.

A decent narrative puzzle adventure game, about the same quality as Red Matter 1. Although this game is twice as long, I think Red Matter 1 was more consistently enjoyable, while RM2 has some stretches that really drag with easy but tedious environmental puzzles and platforming through drab, samey-looking industrial corridors. The gun combat is also as mediocre as it gets in VR and was an unnecessary addition. However, Red Matter 2 definitely has its "high points", most of which revolve around some spectacular visual moments, and the story, while not super memorable, is interesting enough to keep you going through the end.

Light recommendation if you want an atmospheric narrative adventure game and can put up with tedious gameplay at times.

A fun little ~4 hour long VR dungeon crawler. Doesn't do anything spectacular, but everything feels solid. The physics-based melee combat makes knocking undead around crunchy and satisfying, the voxel-esque art style and warm lighting is pleasant on the eyes, and I appreciate the attempt at having a basic plot.

A decent attempt at a mini metroidvania-style campaign. Worth playing, but don't set your expectations too high. I had fun with the new abilities (which can also be used in NG+) and navigating the maze-like level design, but its true the environment is mostly monotonous gray walls, and I finished it in 3 hours.

A very good survival "horror" game and a no-brainer recommendation to anyone who likes the genre. On the horror side, its not really attempting to outright scare you as much it aims to drive the oppressive WW1 atmosphere and sense of futility into your soul. The gameplay is solid, Resident Evil-style gameplay with exploration and backtracking, locked doors and keys, ammo/item management, obtuse logic puzzles, etc. I played the game on "Soldier" and found that I was absolutely swimming in supplies by the end of the game, so I'd recommend "Veteran" for experienced survival horror gamers.

Overall, the game pairs solid survival horror gameplay with a very well executed, unique historical setting for the genre. I'd say it falls slightly short of the genre classics in that it doesn't have truly memorable "wow" moments. Every chapter follows a very similar structure and there are few surprises.

Good, unique Indiana Jones-esque puzzle/adventure VR game obviously most notable for the unique locomotion system where all movement is done on foot around your playspace. This leads to some cool moments where you physically dodge around obstacles/traps, though I admit I found the "roller" movement a bit overused and slightly tedious sometimes. The small Metroidvania-esque world is also pretty well-constructed. Around 5 hours long and I think I'll go back and get the hidden collectibles I seem to have missed, which apparently have the best puzzles in the game. I definitely would be happy to play a bigger, longer game like this.

Early Access Review
Gave this a shot because of the deep discount and recently seeing a bunch of extreme mountain biking videos that I'd be too pansy to try in real life. This game is quite well made and riding a bike feels relatively convincing (outside of not actually needing to pedal). A particular shoutout to the controller haptics which are very well-implemented for different surfaces (you can clearly tell when you're biking over wood). It also has a good amount of adrenaline-inducing narrow/high-speed tracks which fulfilled my interest in replicating those extreme mountain biking videos.

There isn't that much content as is (~14 or so race/time trials tracks and maybe ~10 challenge tracks, all of which are 1-2 minutes long), but I can see myself getting a few more hours out of it in its current state trying to get better trial times and complete the challenges.

If this game was more popular, I think it would have huge potential for user-created tracks to add more replayability.

A short (3-4 hour long), but well executed and polished VR Resident Evil-like. Definitely nails the survival horror feeling of planning out your next move on the map, trying to avoid enemies while dreading your ammo count getting lower and lower. I found the controls a bit frustrating at times, but I guess messing up dodging and reloads while a monster is right in front of your face contributes to the horror atmosphere. The ending is a blatant cliffhanger, so it would be great if they made a sequel with twice the length (I'd definitely pay $40 for it or more depending on the content).

Also respect to the devs as this is one of the few multiplat (released on Quest simultaneously) games where you can't really tell if they had to compromise visuals for the Quest, it looks very good in PCVR with super-sharp textures and glistening gory detail on zombies and other monsters.
