I have played about four hours of Sins II. I'm finding it enjoyable even though I got absolutely bodied by the computers. I had played the original for a little while with my brothers but for some reason I had misremembered the game style. I wasn’t expecting it to be in the same vein of play as Homeworld (for some reason I thought it would be more like Universe at War if any of y’all remember that). The UI design made navigating much more approachable. The tutorials did a good job of showing me what everything did.
There are six factions to choose from, and I tried the Vasari Alliance for my first match. There were some interesting differences between them and even though I tend to play as human in games that have a space setting (let’s go Terran!), I will play the other offerings and see if I can find a ‘main.’
I feel a story or campaign mode is either missing or perhaps I just overlooked it. Having a structured game mode that increases in complexity would make it even easier to stay engaged as a new player.
Overall, this is a solid strategy game with plenty of room to grow, and I plan to keep playing to see what more it has to offer and may check out the DLCs. I recommend giving it a try even if these style games aren’t your cup of tea.

Early Access Review
I gotta say, I never do reviews for games on here, it takes a lot to push me to the level of annoyance that I have with this but I've been trying for about a month to get an answer from the games support team. The game itself is not bad, but the support just isn't there. On Dec. 19th I reached out about some twitch drops showing and others not showing in my inventory after meeting the requirements and showing that I had received them on twitch. Support responded same day saying that they could potentially help with it and they asked for some information. I responded that same day with the info and since then I haven't heard anything from them.

Play the game if you wish, but just know that the support team will leave you out in the wind. I don't understand how they expect to be successful if their support team is like this. I've reached back out four or five times at this point. Experience is sullied and I'm super annoyed because I had a good time in the game.

TL,DR: Their support sucks, if that doesn't bother you, go for it, but this sort of thing matters imo.
