very poorly optimised and you spend more time crashing and restarting than actually playing the game, which is a real shame considering its an amazing remaster, graphics are stunning and the gameplay mostly unchanged, worst thing about it is it was a dump and run, no updates to fix it since july

the devs should have avoided unreal engine 5, its notorious for ♥♥♥♥ performance, just wait for skyblivion that will be actually playable.

It's another (80GB) tech demo from NVIDIA to market the 50 series cards, same as Portal RTX, and with the same terrible performance once again

don't even bother installing unless you went and bought an RTX 5090, and even still expect poor optimisation because source 1 wasn't designed for all these new graphics

I don't know who at Ubisoft designed this game and thought to themselves "yeah this is alright" and i definitely don't know how they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up so bad. thankfully i didn't pay the eye watering $90 for this and got it on a big discount (almost what it was worth).

the game play has been watered down incredibly, everything that made watch dogs great has been taken out of Legion, you cannot listen to peoples phone calls and text messages anymore, to get money you now need to climb buildings to find scattered ipads.

the driving is absolutely horrible, worst handling in any game i've ever played, the only way to control a car is with auto drive, and remember what i said with the watered down gameplay? ubisoft removed traffic lights, manholes, etc, so car chases are terrible, now all you have are slowly raising bollards at checkpoints, and either way another car will spawn in front of you so you will basically never lose the cops

the actual story is stupid, you're playing as a random person, seems alright at first glance but as soon as i started i was playing as a woman whos voice did not at all match her appearance, it's funny little things at first, then you start to have enough people on your crew that have the same voices, the only reason to buy the game is the bloodline DLC, as it's the only gameplay with an actual protagonist, and of course it's a DLC, the main game should have been the DLC and bloodline should have been the main game, that could have at least saved it partially, but typical AAA developers pulling that move.

and then we still have ubisoft connect, buying an ubisoft game is a 50/50 gamble that when you start it the launcher will decide you don't own the game, should be illegal.

all the servers for Australia had no players except for one with like 200 people, joined that and was dead within a millisecond of seeing an enemy player the TTK was so fkn fast, and thats coming from a really good CoD and BF player, kept going on for a little bit so i jumped on game chat n said "♥♥♥♥ me dead i'm a noob can't kill nobody haha" and bam i was banned from the server

I never thought i would be negatively reviewing or even editing a review to negative on a Bethesda title but here we are, this was supposed to be a next-gen space RPG taking place in the future, but instead we got:

Graphics and visuals outdated by at least 10 years, textures are blurry everywhere except spaceships, lighting is sort of alright but definitely not up to standard for it's 2023 release, where is ray tracing? it's 2024 ffs. can't forget waiting about a month or so just to put DLSS in the game

Fast travel, area "cells" still present. for a game that revolves around space i would never have expected to be fast travelling between different planets and space stations, so much for innovative gameplay. Area "cells" from previous Bethesda games are still present, going into different rooms or buildings still revolves around the same 'open door, see loading screen' gameplay, this was acceptable in the days of Oblivion or Skyrim, felt a little old on Fallout 4 and completely outdated on Starfield, and this is an entirely new engine to the older one, this is where the common "Loading screen Simulator" name for starfield came from.

The quests and story are bad, the quests for all factions are written unimaginatively, with the pirate quest being slightly better than the others, the Constellation quests are one of the most boring questlines i've ever played, go to this planet fly into some glowing thing and get a power, repeat, or go into one of 10 different structures and get a piece of magical metal, keep doing this until you finish the game, and there are multiple of both, so it's a chore to complete.

Lore is almost non existant, one of the best things about Bethesda games is the mass amount of lore surrounding them, here you just have to make something up in your head because there is no imaginative lore, for example the colony wars, the U.C and Freestar Collective were fighting 20 years prior, why? what caused the war? theres hardly anything on the main characters either

The main character feels like a space clown, half the dialogue feels goofy, i go into a pirate base full of "tough bastards" and i'm coming out with some "we'll get this, i promise" like what??? not to mention the attempt at puns in certain sections, i spent most time feeling like a socially awkward guy in a big world, second hand embarrassment hit me in certain sections if you could believe it

The main selling point of the game is exploring planets that are generated by AI, and it's bad, there are an insane 1000 planets, this includes gas giants you can look at from afar but not land on, the rest are planets and moons, and once you've landed on a moon, you've seen them all, and maybe two or three planets and you've seen them all, the only system that is actually different is the Alpha Centauri system, the rest are copy pasted down to the ecosystems, there are planets in different systems with identical ecosystems, flora and fauna. Bethesda games were always well known for the tiniest little details in their maps.

This game overall is missing the Bethesda love, and it was supposed to be their passion project, it is by far no next-gen game with a whopping $120AUD price tag, and after months, the modding community has barely touched the game, with mostly retextures on Nexus, updates aren't doing a lot either, Shattered space might save this game, no idea

Go play Skyrim, Oblivion, or Fallout 4, not this

activision decided they could cover up the bad reviews on their filthy game by changing the store page over, game is already a scam, these scammers think they can cover up the negativity against it to get more buyers

the only good thing about the game is that its maps look pretty, everything else i'm not sure if its trying to be like HDTF or HL2, i haven't finished the mod yet, i don't know if i will but if i do i will edit the review

the whole story is a bit off, it hardly feels like a half life game as it hardly follows hl2's lore with things that don't fit, soundtrack doesn't fit, some props don't fit and even some dialog and story don't fit, like you'll hear an 'electrician' say he has a family and kids, the whole story itself is a bit meh too, you don't really know whats going on, and some character names are a bit strange too, like a dude called Academic. also, what the hell is the intro? thats like the goofiest thing i have seen in a mod yet.

the gameplay is really mid, it starts pretty well but gets worse as you progress, once you get out of the city it just gets really annoying, you spend more time figuring out some of the worst puzzles i've seen in a mod, then in some it gives you infinite antlions to kill while you scratch your head and burn health and ammo. the mod also uses hints by symbols in blue boxes, and sometimes they can be really misleading, like a couple of times there are power boxes, hints indicate a crosshair so i shoot at it but you actually need to throw something at it, it took 15 minutes for me to figure that out

the jeep part is the worst part of the game, you can't go a kilometre without getting stopped to open another gate with a more tedious puzzle at each one, it gets repetitive and boring

level design feels like HDTF sometimes, sometimes it hints where to go or what to do and sometimes it doesn't, leaving you to run around like a headless chicken looking for a way to progress, and sometimes you have to kill infinite antlions while doing so

voice acting isn't very good either

overall the mod doesn't really feel well put together, i can't recommend a mod just because it looks nice
