Despite being Backtracking: the Video Game at times, Cry of Fear is one of the most immersive, impressive, scary, and fun horror games I've ever played. All the weapons and controls feel so easy and intuitive so use. Sometimes the puzzles are retarded but sometimes they have incredibly charming solutions and the occasional ♥♥♥♥ puzzle doesn't fully get in the way of your enjoyment. The sheer amount of depth and detail to everything is infatuating and the amount of content available is beyond bang for your buck. I mean- this game is free lmfao this ♥♥♥♥ is awesome. S/o Simon, he's not literally me but he's a great protag anyway

in a lot of ways its aged badly and can feel like the most 2013 game ever at times but i think that adds to the charm in a major way. a teenage sci fi coming of age story that is one giant product of its time. however it adds to the at times cringe but passionate story that i ultimately fell victim to. sometimes this game can be a bit too on the nose though, like, Max "Caulfield".. really? but its also full of great character moments and fun twists and the gameplay loop is pretty good albeit nothing special mostly because the sci fi elements dont have that big of a role.
but yea, good game id say

the graphics, voice acting, and gameplay of this game can all be described as janky but it all works. its an incredibly cute and charming game

The DLC is better than the game

takes a major hit to the quality at the end but overall pretty good but i think i prefer blue shift tbh

it DOES have good parts but i DO NOT recommend you buy this because it will only lead to disappointment especially if you are a big fan of the original game like me

Literally a masterpiece, idk why it took me a year to actually play this but its amazing. Honestly considering 100%ing it. Play this with a controller for the best experience.
