First of all, let my preface that I usually don't comment on or review anything, but since this one is very dear to me, and I nearly missed out on this truly unique experience because of the frankly unjustified reputation and reviews the game has that don't properly reflect the actual quality of its contents, I felt it necessary to give it a solid write-up, in the hopes of maybe helping someone else that is uncertain, to not miss out on something worthwhile.

The Good:
-Investigation Missions: To me, its strongest point by far. I've never played a game, or anything, really, that has riddles and puzzles of such depth, while basically being devoid of any hand holding, at all. Each and every new IM made me feel like trying to solve that damn Umineko puzzle all over again. If I can recommend anything, don't use a guide unless you've tried for at least a few hours on your own, the reward in knowledge, satisfaction and deductive ability alone is worth it. From translating Hebrew, Arabic, Egyptian Hieroglyphs and many other languages, to decoding Base64,Hex,Binary,Morse and other codes, deciphering hints and clues, decrypting coordinates and analyzing classical literature, and sometimes even all of it at the same time and much more, I wouldn't be surprised if this game would actively raise your IQ by inspiring you to cultivate a critical and inquisitve mind - unironically.
-NPCs: While your Main-Character will be unvoiced and there aren't any dialogue options, thus making every talk an unfortunate odd, lengthy monologue on their part, NPCs are intricately crafted characters with their distinct own personalities, making for very memorable encounters even if they should last only a short while.
-Story: An intricately crafted, interconnected plot with poignant, but not overly forced twists and turns surprising you yet and again when least expected, rewarding thought and attention with insights otherwise missed.
-Setting: Oddly enough, a contemporary occult and mystery scenario in fiction and especially gaming is more rare than it probably should be nowadays, with high fantasy and sci-fi often being the preferred choice of conveyance. So if a modern day occult-monster-mystery setting is your thing, this is definitely one of the better options out there. My boy ♥♥♥♥ Sonnac would surely concur.
-Writing: Very well written in vocubulary and prose. One might even consider it being "too much" at some points, an advocacy for having a dictionary or thesaurus at the ready surely wouldn't be amiss, it has to be considered most texts read in the game aren't really being conveyed by...well...humans, they manage to properly TRANSMIT the creepy, uncanny and foreign mind mazes of your acquaintances and benefactors.
-Lore: There is a massive amount of hiden Lore/Legends and dialogue in the game that is not forced upon you and can be easily missed if not thought out, but if you're willing to immerse yourself, there is such a preposterous amount of content and backstory to be had, not uncommonly teaching you about real life events, too. One might likene it to "Dark Souls"-Style Lore/Storytelling, but I think it is not necessary to invoke such a thing, since it is definitely much, much more than that.
-Ranged Spells: I straight up can't play most other caster classes in MMO's where you have to stand still to use spells. SWL does away with it entirely, making (basically) everything castable on the move. Great!
-No Autoattacks: who needs those, right? All damage is within your control, no dps loss for slightly turning away from your enemy anymore.
-Dodging: Active dodgie is a mechanic, that, in hindsight, I'm not sure why not more games have it as a universal mechanic, rewarding good reflexes and decision making, while allowing encounters to be designed without having to consider mobility and different classes' abilities, furthering an interactive and involved playstyle.
-UI: Easily movable and resizable UI. No real need to install half a dozen addons to modify it to your liking, allowing you natively to move and resize everything to your liking, at least at a base level. Some of the weapon ability Interfaces also look really cool.
-Classes: Being able to unlock all classes, and to mix and match up to two of them at the same time, gives you a good amount of options. Unfortunately, not without its downsides, to that later.

The Bad:
-Animations: Most animations aren't really that flashy, and more than anything
they simply don't sync up properly, sound, animation and impact all occuring at different times
making it feel very disjointed depending on the ability used.
-Limitations: Even though you can have any class-combo, there is basically no synergy between them. They're also all normalized and do more or less the same thing, dealing the same damage with the same cooldowns etc. They would theoretically still be different enough, but having only 6 active abilities and 5 passives at any given time limits your build options in terms of situational/utility abilities so much that in the end most builds tend to look exactly the same since 4 out of 6 abilities are practically set by necessity.
-Items: This game, you certainly should not play for item progression. You're not gonna "find"
any items you want, you'll make money by doing dailies and proceed to buy the desired items in the auction house, there's basically no other way to getting anything remotely good otherwise. Not an issue, since they're affordable and the dailies are generous, but not very satisfying. After that it's just
upgrading the same item for literal years, you never get the exhilaration of earning a new upgrade.
-Sound: Generally bland, with some nice backing tracks, but especially the weapon sounds stand out as more annoying than entertaining. If I have to hear Raging Shot or Crystallized Blaze explosions one more time I'd turn mad, and having to listen to Pistol all the time makes me just not wanna play Pistol.

The Subjective:
-Graphics: They do their job, but I wouldn't call them fancy either. I personally do not
care about Graphics in the slightest, but I know others might very much so.
-Difficulty: It's rather easy, if challenge is your fancy, this probably isn't it.
There's more or less no way to die while questing if you don't pull more than you can handle
or refuse to dodge any abilities, and for endgame and dungeons everything is generally always avoidable. Mythic Raiding this is not, but infringing on the fun it shan't either.
-Free-to-play: Now, this should be a bad thing, but if it weren't for F2P, I never would have
discovered this game, so all's fair, right? As to the intricacies, a subscription is very
rewarding, but not necessary, buying stuff with money is more luxury than mandatory, if you forget these things exist your gameplay experience won't be hampered at all; it'll feel just right.
But, only having half ability points among others, does, in fact, hurt, at least in the soul.
The best way to play the game is probably subscribing for about 2 Months until youve finished most of the game's content, it'll be a very reasonable price for a lot of entertainment. I, personally, did go completely F2P, but if I had known in the beginning how much I would enjoy the game, I'd have gone for at least one month, even though I usually refrain from spending any money on anything. It took me about 250 Hours over somewhat more than a month of pretty "solid" playtime to finish the Story only, some Scenarios/Dungeons/Theorycrafting on the way included..

In the end, I just want you all to have a good time and enjoy whatever it is you decide on doing, the nchoice is solely...bzzz...yours.

TL;DR: If you want a game that doesn't only not insult your intelligence, but makes you instead insult yourself for how much dumber you are than you actually thought, this is it.

P.S.: Enable Full Client Download in the launcher, or you'll mistakenly think the game has terrible FPS;took me like half a zone to notice.
