I went into Lies of P not expecting much beyond a Dark Souls clone, but I was surprised by how polished and extremely rewarding it turned out to be. The world design is moody and atmospheric, the combat feels tight and rewarding, and the story takes the whole Pinocchio inspiration in a way darker direction than I expected, in a good way.

The weapon assembly system stands out as my favorite feature of the game, and something I hope future titles explore more. Being able to mix and match blades and handles adds a nice layer of customization.

As for the Overture DLC, it is absolutely worth it. The boss fights are super challenging and fun, the new weapons are fun to experiment with (Pale Knight ftw), and it adds a ton of lore. It definitely feels like a setup for something bigger.

If you’re into Soulslikes and want something familiar but fresh, Lies of P is well worth your time, and the Overture DLC only strengthens that recommendation.

Game runs like absolute ♥♥♥♥. Ryzen 7 5800x and 3070 couldn't run it at 1440p 60fps at medium settings. Constant stuttering and at times, looks like a slideshow. Refunded after 1 hour.

I honestly don't know how to properly review this game. I'd say it's one of the best 7/10 games I've played? The combat is mediocre, the controls are clunky at best, and I experienced a great deal of, albeit, small technical issues; skipping, frame dips, texture bugs. But the voice acting, environments, soundtrack, ambient noise, story, and characters are top notch.

The game is also very short. It took me about 6 hours to complete (game shows 8 hours as I left the game on while I was away). And while there's 2 different scenarios (similar to RE2 Claire and Leon), I've read that the story pretty much plays out the same, so there's no real point in playing through it again besides getting a few different collectibles, dialog options, and Steam achievements.

In short, if you can grab it at 50% off or more, then go for it. But at full price, definitely skip and wait for a sale.
