A great finale(?) for the series, massively improving on its predecessor. Unlike Syberia 3, The World Before looks much better, looking rather beautiful in some areas and plays much better, with improved controls and virtually bug free. It is overall a much more polished product compared to all the previous entries.

I highly recommend it for fans of the series wanting to see the continuation (and end?) of the story. Players wanting a Syberia 1 or 2 might be disappointed however as The World Before has less focus on the puzzles and is instead focused more on the story and cinematics.

If you want to play this I highly recommend playing at least Syberia 1 first to get an idea of the setting but the game does give you a recap of the events at the start.

Early Access Review
Maybe a bit early on to write a review but don't think I'll play it much more, so here it goes:

What's good(ish):
- It's based on Dead Island (great if you liked the series)
- Zombies
- The game modes
- The crafting, leveling up, equipping system add a bit of interesting extra stuff to do

What's wrong (I'm sure some of these will be fixed in final releases, but here they are at the moment):
- It's pay to win. And a whole lot so.
- Very unbalanced
- Little variation between missions
- Out-of-match account and character leveling make it possible for players with different levels/unlocked skills to play the game together (even in PvP), resulting in an unbalanced mess, where even 2 same characters with same items can have a fairly big difference in stats like damage, health, etc

My biggest problem with this game is that it suffers from an issue also found in games like Call of Duty (from Modern Warfare onwards).
Since you can level up your account, your character (out of match), and your weapons, it is completely possible for a player with level 5 to be matchmaked with someone 3-4 (haven't tested maximum difference) levels higher who will have much higher damage, health, defense and so on.

Much like how in the latest Call of Duty games, the profile level allows you to unlock new and better weapons, attachments and perks, this game allows you to unlock better weapons, perks, and abilities.
Moreover, since the game also has the so called "consumables" (first aid kits, bandages, etc) as well as gadgets (turrets, minions), if you're not a heavy purchaser (i.e., you don't put enough real money in), you will find yourself against a player who has a turret with him, and plenty of healing kits to be almost unbeatable.

The IAP's go as far as allowing you to buy pretty much everything from top tier weapons (you'll need the required character level to equip them though), to as many consumables as you want, as well as directly boost the level of your account, character and weapons.

All in all, I find it a great idea that was ruined by the disease that is pay-to-win.
