I don't even care to explain cuz of the community being so toxic about this particular issue so ♥♥♥ it. If Crytek does actually fix it I'll change my rating but for now I don't recommend it for new players unless you're a God in CS:GO or similar games and then you'll have a small chance to enjoy the game, but only a small chance.

Maybe this game will become good one day in which case I'll correct my review but so far I'm pretty sick of it and the direction it's going.

I loved it at first but now it's just a mess. I could write an essay but I'm too lazy but will still try summarize most of it which will still be pretty large. TL;DR at the end. :P

So given that most of my friends that tired it refunded it in a heart beat (one even that i gifted is pending for refund right now) and many friends that did play it til rundown 4 were like, meh, same old BS. Thus I can't recommend it to anyone anymore. Even I got sick of it. Nothing changed since rundown 1 except more and more BS.

To put it very simply, if a game is bound to using any and all exploits like AI pathing etc. to stand a chance, you're game is bad.
If you have multiple tools that give you a sense of flexibility but not really as 99% of the time there's only one set of tools to do the mission, the game is bad.
If you have lots of weapons but same as above, the game is bad.
To be fair, that was kinda the deal with rundown 1 but it was leaning towards "most optimal loadout", after rundown 1 it's "this loadout or fail". And I mean every single mission has that. Like I said, no flexibility, no creative ways to do missions, it's all rail like, which is the biggest let down for me. You just can't experiment because the game is too focused on being "the hardest most hardcore cry to your mommy" game.

I love stealth games and this is not one of those anymore. Not a single thing was done to improve or add onto the stealth part of the game, not a single stealth mechanic, while more and more defense oriented things are just spammed and added with more and more lazy added things like fog, bullet sponge bosses and other hurdles that seem so unsatisfying to play in or beat.

Lemme put it like this: If you're not ready to give up on life and "git gud", learn all AI exploits, bunny hoping, kiting, cheese spots etc, you'll pretty much skip 70% of the content because there are tiers within each mission that you can do optionally. So if you only do the main one due to having a life or casual friends, I see no point in buying a game to only play a small portion of it. And I don't think the devs will change that approach.

Each tier adds more and more BS and the map and objectives are at this point made in such a way that can take hours to finish or hours to fail. Finding players is hard, finding good players even harder, so if you for instance want to only stick to the first tier objectives on each mission, you'll pretty much skip most of the content, so what's the point?

Ah, right the defendors, the handful of players that are actually very good will say that the difficulty is perfect, well, I will definitely trust in their judgment and keep tailoring it to them, given that more and more people are leaving that I used to play with and that of time of writing around 1.6k people are playing it. Literally, when rundown 5 released, there was a peak of 3k players that probably saw it and said, "yup, same BS" and left, never to return, the rest either said outright "this some BS" or refunded.
I guess the devs are happy with a handful of people that know all the tricks and exploits to beat the game and will keep tailoring it to them.

Because I'm certain some will think that I'm some potato guy that can't even pass A1, I did all the past missions and am not some noob (not the best but I can hold my own xD), I did enough of rundown 5 to be at this point that it's just not fun anymore. I like a challenge but when I see no ingenuity in creating said challenges, I will get bored and simply not care, it's nothing new, it's simply not fun. It was a mixed bag with R4 but this time they put a nail in the coffin for most of my friends that played it and now for me as well, I gave it the longest benefit of the doubt but GG's I'm out.

TL;DR
Very repetitive.
Stealth is very basic and one-sided.
Difficulty is static, low player base does not help with that.
Low player base.
Not the best community but not the worst either, so it's a mixed bag.
Lot's of bad things about the devs which is not giving me hope for this game.
Refund window to short for this type of game. Basically, the game is so slow and no single player so by the time you realize if you like it or not, chances are you played well over the time Steam allows to refund the game.
Bugs, which aren't that bad like in other games, but given that doing a mission for 3 hours and a enemy stuck in wall or bulkhead door on top of a team scan and can hit you 15+ meters and wipe your team that is already very low on hp and ammo... Yeh, any slight bug can be a mission fail or lead to a failed mission and many failed missions feel undeserved.

Basically an amazing concept that keeps pushing in the wrong direction and is killing the game.
Will see in several months I guess. xD

Basically what you hoped vs what you got with the original ArmA III campaign is repeated with this one. Also, it's soooo funny when your cover shows the ship and then you make some grand reveal in-game. I sense a theme in Bohemia.

Also, towards the end, you'll get either really disappointed or (as me) really frustrated and angry as you get a timed mission where if you try to play it tactically, you will fail miserably. The time is way too short and you need to CoD to make it. I was like, WUT?! I get the time limit and all but the pace is way out of hand here.

Now, i'm not at a complete loss as i got it on sale but for my countries economy, it's a lot.
Most mechanics aren't utilized properly in my opinion either. Since this game has the pacing of guns trigger, i was for instance waiting for some slow buildup with some hazmat suits and those decontamination car sprinkles etc, some protocols etc to slowly and organically introduce the situation at hand and what not. Build up more mystique. NOPE. Alien ship arrives, all goes to s**t, we at war of course and that's it. I'm not sure that any Country would act as depicted here and i must say, i was VERY DISAPPOINTED when the went THE HOLLYWOOD way. -.- I mean, come the f*** on. Really? Oh well. I can damn bet my life that if we actually for a change got something like this without actually needing to fire a single shot, the campaign would have been better, if not the best first alien contact depiction in a game ever. Or very limited and instead showed how the military actually helps with some sort of civilian evacs and perimeter/exclusion zone building and what not, anything other then *boom boom*. I could go on and on but i'm tired and don't want to write a game for someone for free so, f*** it and f*** this. -.-
Don't bother or buy it cheap if you must, wait for some sale and try combine it with some bundle to get the cheapest possible.

Filled with bugs and dev's don't care to fix it even after all this time. Can't get past intro mission because it's just so tedious.
Here are just severa issuesl: (I can guarantee there would be more but didn't play long enough to find them)
Random freezes. Some are short (few seconds) some are longer (10-60+ seconds).
Controller thumbstick deadzone is huge. (Mostly not a good thing.) [PS4 DS Controller]
Controller thumbstick movement smoothness is non-existent. The behavior is actually leveled/stepped. [PS4 DS Controller]
Mouse acceleration. (We still arguing over this?!) NOT. A. GOOD. THING.
Visual glitches in DX12. Perhaps didn't play long enough to see it in DX11 as well?
AI.... Maybe it's the intro mission but AI is clunky as f***.
Cover mechanic is inconsistent. Seriously, how you did it good in HR and f*** it up in MD? HOW?!
Decision to have menus like Quick Aug and Quick Inventory only to be dismissible by selection or ESC is idi*tic.
Decision to have menu like weapon mod only to be dismissible by ESC is ALSO idi*tic.

Would have refunded but keeping it for the collection's sake or for the hopes someone could mod this game in the future and make it actually playable.

But hey, the graphics are nice..........

Im about to loose my girlfriend cuz i spend too much time playing Space Engineers! Oh well... At least ill be in SPAAAAAAAAAACE!!!!!!!! We need pet alien dogs or cats to care for in our mega ships!

This game is the biggest dissapointment this year. I loved MGO from the Patriots but this... This is not what MGO originally was. I miss MGO 3! When the servers shut down... an emotional moment. Still crawls under my skin. And than ehy make this? I was waiting for so long to jump back into MGO and they give me this POS? It doesnt even have an in-game chat. LIKE WHAT?! REALLY? I read somewhere that the reason behind it was that players hardly ever used it. WHAT?! Really? They can lie to people who didnt play MGO but even if its so, what logic not putting something as fundamental to comunication as this? I could rant about the rest but trust me if i say its easier to just say nothing. It is nothing so it doesnt deserve even to mention anything. I will never go over this BS. It just hurts so much. You know how it is in my F king economy of 300 euros a month to spare for a 60 euro game? Thank you for this game makers (both Kojima and Konami, dont care whos most at fault). You can say what you want but this is the biggest mistake of a game ever. I know open world is nice but there are a bunch and close quarter stealth games are very deficient. They took away tactic to play and like 4-5 maps total to play that are repeptitive. MGO was never empty. Now i tried to give it a shot again and hoped by a miracle that a patch maybe added some improvements and maps but nope. Only it got is empty. And the little that play (no more than 10-20 tops people are online) have aweful connectivity thanks to god aweful P2P. I cant believe what they did to this game. I just want some more MGO 3 FFS! I was so hoping to play this and get back with the MGO 3 players meeting again. That would have been fun and amazing. No way to find out without chat tho. And no true lobbies anymore. Respect and greets to the MGO 3 players! I will never forget our amazing moments that sadly will never be again. I still watch some of you on YouTube. -TELETUBBIE / Jake Sully. :)

What can i tell you, started a year ago.
Nothing changed.

Still less than 10 maps to play, still random crahses from time to time, still no new mechs, no new weapons, balance and match making still an issue, less and less players as a result of zero progress.

For a game that is aiming at competitive fast paced FPS multiplayer, it cant have 10 or less maps.
Of course, game in early access can be anything, but really, its been years since its being developed.
Id honestly say, either make progress or close it down.

Got issues that might be only me but even at low ping, i seem to hit a moving target when i miss it behind a bit, and miss it if i fire dead on. Thats an issue for snipers while spalsh damage doesnt register a hit everytime on moving targets. That might be just me tho. But i did find a few players with same problems.

I generally love it and hate it. I keep coming back and get forced to leave it for the above mentioned reasons.
Its just weird. And sad. Such an awesome concept.

It was an amazing project back than, and id give it a recommendation but since theres no progress for over a year worth noticing, no content, ill have to give it a not recomended status.

Ofc, its F2P so go try it out urself, so nothing too loose there. Maybe i just noob at it too much.
What i definitly wont recommend is buying any package or in game currentcy for real money till you play it some time and are sure the developers earned it.
