An incredibly fun and creative game. I really did feel like a glitch!

Side note: If you are going for 100%, you need to know the follow: Go back to each boss arena once you've beaten it. I feel as it this is the only part of the game that is too obtuse.

Silksong is complicated. It is a fantastic metroidvania souls-like that has incredible gameplay and mechanics; a rich and complex world; and amazing characters that I was always excited to see. It is also a game that is deeply unfair to the player throughout its adventure. Though a majority of the challenges in this game are skill-based, an exceeding number of areas and boss fights throw too much at the player at once and or requires them to go long stretches of gameplay with little to no mistakes - lest you be punished to an exhausting degree. This game asks of the player a level of stamina that actively burns them out. I was personally very close to dropping the game at certain points. Silksong is worth your money, but be prepared for what lies ahead. I can only hope Team Cherry will take into consideration the overwhelming reception to the game's difficulty and make some tweaks to create a stronger, more fair experience for all.

I am a backer for this game, and I have been very excited for this game to be released. When I heard a free demo was released, I jumped on it immediately. Here are some thoughts:

Pros:
* Visuals are stellar. They nailed the style of a late PS1 / N64 Era game.
* Music and sound are fun and nice of the ears.
* This game's movement is so fluid. You go from action to action instantly. The character's weight is just right. This will definitely be a speed-game.

Neutral:
* As far as I'm aware, there's no map. I feel like having a map, even a Breath of the Wild style map where you fill it in as you explore, would be helpful for navigation.
* There is no fast traveling between checkpoints on the overworld. All travel must be done manually. Though I love the feeling of riding a snake, I feel Super Mario Odyssey brought the platformer into the modern era by allowing for such fast travel. However, if fast travel is not for this game, I respect it.

Cons:
* The wall-running is awkward to use. The moment you touch the wall, you instantly begin descending down, which makes platforming harder than needed. In fact, I feel like I'm either missing something or the platforming was designed with a different incarnation of the wall-run. That being said, every time I had to wall-run, I dreaded it because of how finicky it was. It would get me across with the height I needed every eight tries.
* After the tutorial, while you're presented with an admittedly-impressive open world for a demo, the game felt very aimless. You can ride around on the snakes to get places and explore but that's all I did: Explore. I knew I needed to find fish but just being told to find them without knowing where to look makes me raise an eyebrow. It might be fine if I was told general areas to look or have a known total fish needed in mind, but neither exist yet.
* It is so easy to fail and have restart major chunks of areas from the beginning. I can't tell if this is intentional or not. If not, more checkpoints scattered throughout the sections are needed.

This game has a lot of potential, but I also believe it needs some work before calling it complete. I look forward to seeing the full game!
