EA acquiring respawn and apex was the worst thing to ever happen to the game, and honestly could probably be the worst thing to happen to any game ever. The company doesn't care about cheaters and boosters, because cheaters spend money too, and boosters get more people to play the game and therefore spend money as well. They also don't care about listening to the community on a single issue, or making any sort of good meaningful changes to the game. Instead, we get a new $360 event every split (events used to be $160), we get new $20 skins and a new $50 exotic skin. The game about literally killing people with guns is also apparently rated "G" for all audiences, because your EA account WILL get banned if you send even a single chat message expressing a grievance you might have with the LEVEL ONE TEAMMATES the game gives you every single game, regardless of your skill level. The blatant mismanagement of the game is honestly impressive, I've never seen a company run a product into the ground much like EA has done here with apex. The only changes made to the game are more purchasable items, and then a hyper-buff for one specific legend or class that makes them completely broken for a whole season, followed by the expected nerf into the ground. The game hasn't been properly balanced since season 7, and its because the glue drinking, crayon eating, wastes of oxygen at EA can't figure out that if you actually spend just a bit of time fixing the things that people complain about instead of pushing more purchasable cosmetics, maybe more people would play the game. Me personally, I'd much rather play a really good game with a few skins where the devs listen to the community than a gigantic heaping pile of garbage with a thousand dollars of purchasable content in the shop at any given time and any criticism falling on deaf ears. There is genuinely no way I could recommend this game to anyone until EA stops hiring its devs and decision makers from the neurological trauma center.
