The final PES, and another licence killed by Konami.

Has an active modding community, grab a Steam key from somewhere if you can.

An almost perfect, relaxing sim to get lost in - especially in VR! Great wheel support too.

I bought this looking for a relaxing driving game like ETS2 to use with my wheel, but I can't say it's much like that yet since you need to allow for at least 5 hours just to learn the basic systems of the game.

Here are a couple of things I wish I'd known earlier:

- If people aren't getting on the bus, you need to set your route by clicking the line number icon (Alt to open the menu, the icon is '92E' and then select the icon. If it isn't showing, the bus isn't compatible with the route. When you download a map it will usually come with a bus or two, and those have been setup for the route.

- Buses with a back door have a different key to press, and on some buses they won't open if the parking brake isn't engaged. On one bus the process is: parking brake > station brake > front door / back door. It took me a while to figure this out.

- If people are hopping off your bus just as they've got on, you're driving erratically or hitting things. You can turn off collisions and they won't care anymore.

As for the game itself, it's janky with poor performance on a 3700x and 3080 with 32GB ram. The graphics are not good, but they're serviceable.

The modders are really what make this game, and there are some who have spent years working on their maps of British towns and cities that are worth your time to experience if you can get over the first hurdle of learning the quirks of the game. So far I've played Gainsborough and Pimlico, both are really cool when you consider the scale of the maps and how much work went into them.

They got a new race engineer voice over, but didn't bother to give him some new lines.

"What shall I say?"
"Just say something like the guy on the last one!"
"Turn the engine off and wait for the marshals."

Early Access Review
I've clearly not put much time into the game yet, but in my short time so far the gameplay already feels incredibly refined. The developers have essentially nailed the feeling of skateboarding within VR using only your arms, and within 5 minutes of the tutorials it clicks and feels totally natural.

I just did around 10 runs of the School level in practice and it's exhilarating to make split second decisions on direction and tricks. I do find myself leaning down to ollie, even though I haven't skateboarded in at least 10 years - that alone tells you how immersive the game feels and plays.

The early access version comes with one level (as well as many tutorials to learn tricks), and it's designed in a linear way, however you can pick your lines and string together tricks. As another reviewer mentions, you can't simply turn around and head back to try again when you bail, but in practice mode you can hit down on the left analogue stick to go back by a checkpoint. Besides, the School level is designed to be a run from start to end with plenty of staircases, windows(!) and more.

This approach is fun, but does make me wonder how many levels will need to be churned out to provide enough content for these kind of linear style levels.

All of the game play systems feel in place for free-roam (you can change direction easily whilst stationary), so it would be great to see a flat skatepark style level with boxes, rails and ramps, maybe even using the warehouse from the tutorials. That alone would add many hours of gameplay for me.

There's already so much promise in this game I have a lot of faith the developers will achieve their vision for VR skateboarding. Definite recommend.
