If you like Metroid/Souls type games and are also into Catholic imagery and the art that stems from it there is no better game. Absolutely gorgeous pixel art. Amazing soundtrack. Awesome lore. Blasphemous is among the absolute best 2d games.

I love everything about this game. Even the frustration. And how sometimes it truly does feel like a penance I'm forcing upon myself -- Especially the Bloodstained platforming levels.

I've been in love with Blasphemous since it released, but unfortunately my PC broke around that time. I ended up buying it again on PS4 so I could finish the game. I managed to do that back in October 2019. Since then I've been meaning to come back to PC and really delve into it. This past week I finally did. So much has changed since the initial release and I can't believe that it was all free updates. This game is one of the few where you can tell that the devs have unbridled passion for it. The amount of respect I have for this team cannot be easily summed up.

I finally 100%'d this game (most of the play time on this account is from that run, if you want an idea how long it takes) - and I am eagerly awaiting revisiting Cvstodia. I cannot recommend this game enough. This game is a new classic.

I also highly recommend checking out the art book and soundtrack. The talent that this team has really shines there. I count myself blessed for being able to snag a physical copy of that book.

If you like Doom (Classic and/or 2016/Eternal) - you'll love this.

Fantastic art style, awesome sound effects and a killer sound track combine with the fast paced gameplay so well. Incredibly fun!

Also - THERE'S A LEVEL EDITOR! I'm so excited to see what the community comes up with.

My only criticism would be that it can be pretty easy. When you die you return to a checkpoint with all your progress intact. So that tension you'd normally get from dying isn't really there most of the time. And sometimes the enemies can be kinda clueless.

Ultimately - it's an early access game and taking that into consideration .. this is a fantastic start.

Tremendously fun. Slashing through punks and running off walls while the soundtrack in this is playing never gets old. Some of the platforming can be quite difficult (especially the last level) - but learning the routes and finally getting it right feels AWESOME! Couldn't recommend this game enough.

I honestly do not know how to feel about this. The presentation that everyone loved from Doom Eternal is still there. But they scaled the difficulty TERRIBLY. The new enemies are incredibly frustrating, the arenas are much more cramped and easy to get stuck in. I absolutely loved the main campaign - I played it through on Ultra Violence at first and had such a good time that I went back and did Nightmare. It was a blast. This though.. Is just hair pullingly annoying. I finally beat it on Ultra Violence after a few days and I really do not see myself going back to replay this. It's just not fun. The first level though - is fantastic. Fairly balanced and a return to the classic UAC facility look from 2016's Doom. I just wish that sense of difficulty scaling carried over to the other 2 levels

That final boss where you have to fight 2 spirits as well as dodge the ANNOYING new Blood Maykrs (that can basically only be killed with headshots at very certain times) AND dodge moving lasers on top of all that... It's just stupid.

I do want to say that the music and art is fantastic as always tho.

10/10

Doom 2016 was fantastic... THIS though. This is something else entirely.

This is an evolution of FPS. I've never experienced something THIS fast where you have to constantly be thinking about not only what weapon you're using - but what you're gonna use next, what grenades you have equipped, how much fuel you have left. On top of that, a lot of enemies require different approaches. People complain about the Marauder a lot - but if you take your time to learn spacing even a LITTLE bit he's easily dealt with.

This game requires more of you than Doom 2016 does. By a lot. I mean that in the best way. Once you learn how to manage your resources by using the flamethrower to get armor and the chainsaw to get ammo it comes together beautifully and it makes you feel ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AWESOME - even sorta smart.

The levels are so well designed. You are constantly rewarded for exploration. Be it extra lives, suit upgrades, weapons, weapon mods or easter eggs. They added some fairly un-intrusive platforming as well. Doom Slayer has some added mobility that helps here and in the fights as well. - I will admit that the "slime" areas kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck. But that's a VERY small portion of the game.

The graphics are what you'd expect from 2016. It's absolutely beautiful to look at - and runs even better. It's honestly amazing how well this game runs. The details range from beautiful space-scapes to absolutely grotesque hellscapes. Enemies are so well designed as well- and you get to see them blown piece from piece in excruciating detail. Taking entire chunks off of hellknights and cacodemons is so satisfying. They even contort their faces in surprise/anguish during glory kills. Guns are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ huge and crammed with detail as well. From runes embedded in the Super Shotgun or copper tubing running along the plasma rifle. They sound punchy and satisfying. Each gun has their own character.

All of this for just over 40 gigs.. These days when most games seem to be around double or more that is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CONVENIENT. I wish more developers would be so conscious of our harddrive space.

I feel like this goes without mentioning as well, but the soundtrack is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ intense and badass. Mick Gordon really outdid himself this time. Doom 2016 was awesome, but Eternal is so much more varied. Ranging from electronic sounding ambient music, to slow ominous chants, to balls to the wall metal. It all adds to the entire experience.

A lot of people seem to have trouble coming to terms with the fact that you need to do a LITTLE thinking in order to succeed/be good at this game. It's sad. I truly hope the devs aren't listening to this vocal minority. Doom Eternal is an AMAZING game. This is an EASY buy if you liked Doom 2016 or fast paced shooters that require a little more than just pointing and clicking.

Nidhogg 2 takes everything the first game does well and multiplies it. The gameplay is more fluid, there's more weapons, and a completely different (and appealing) art style and sound track. As far as sequels go, there are few better examples

The game is REALLY difficult, but satisfying once you get the hang of it. They make you work really hard to earn your first win. Even on Easy this game is super challenging. But once you start executing combos it's awesome. It plays like a cool mixture of Tekken and Mortal Kombat. Don't expect to just jump in and win against the computer, you're going to get your ass kicked, but it's fun!

I'm hoping for a character based in Silat (like in the movie The Raid 1/2)! Developers if you're reading this I would be willing to buy the game all over again for a character like that!
