UPDATED: Originally I recommended, after updates I currently can't recommend until EA fixes the direction the game is going in.

Multiplayer (was 10/10, now 6/10) - On release it was just like the Battlefield 6 open beta and that was great! But I've since updated this based on how EA has treated the game.

EA have made portal mode pointless... you can never make a server (just release some dam server files and let people self host servers as clearly your infrastructure isn't capable of hosting and keeping up with demand). To be clear, most of the time I'd prefer to be in public matches with other players but in the cases where I was able to join a portal server (before the XP nerfing) or for some challenges I would want to do them with bots sometimes I'd prefer a more relaxed session (especially if I want to try explore a map and try stuff out without the potential of ruining my team's chances of winning in a public match) or work on challenges that aren't really suited to team play and negatively impact my team's. Now with this awful XP nerf (not to mention you can't host a portal server anyway) I'd rather just not play the game if I want a more relaxed session.

When it comes to the battle pass challenges, a lot of these are just rubbish. They force you a lot of the time to play in game modes that you may not find fun. The system is also set up in such a way that gives you FOMO, I've paid £90 for this game so why have you got a battle pass system that is time based... if you actually cared you'd put in a system like in Helldivers 2 where even if I stop playing for a few months my progress won't all be for nothing as I can pick what passes to do and work towards them when I want.

Finally, map size... the maps are too small... the current maps are all what I would class as small or at most medium size maps. Look back to Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 3 for some inspiration on size and how to actually design decent maps.

Campaign 4/10 - This is going to take a bit of explaining...
Pros
- It's okay from a gameplay standpoint.
- Visually everything looks great (just turn on AA or you'll get a lot of visual noise).

Cons
- The story and flow between missions is rubbish.
- I don't really understand what the plot was half the time the progression between the missions is rubbish, just usually two of these characters arguing or talking and they mention a place name followed by the mission starting.
- The characters aren't really memorable.

The only reason I'll be replaying the campaign it is to get all the achievements. The content in the missions was okay but story itself just doesn't work for me.

For the campaign, the developers really need to look back at BF4's and BF3's campaign. As for the characters, they need to go back and look at the original MW2 and MW3 or BO1 campaigns.

This is the first free to play game where its actually good in my opinion.

All the paid content is cosmetics and all legends can be unlocked in whatever order you like and within a reasonable time frame by ranking up (you can pay to unlock legends quicker but all legends on their own pros and cons so not having or being able to use a legend doesn't put you at a disadvantage).

10/10 Would love to die to in SCP 106's chamber and have the person am with not push the button.

In all seriousness it's a great game, you will need someone to walk you through the game and how to play it but a simple search on youtube for a guide will help with this and after its a hell of a lot of fun.

GTA V would be a game I recommended in the past but with recent developments, I couldn't possibly recommend buying a game from a company (Take 2 Interactive), which treats its consumer with such disrespect. For a more in-depth view of this feel free to watch Nerd's video on the matter

and Jim Sterling's video

The game to start with is overall very good for a single player experience that I have happily played and completed the story. The multiplayer on the other hand is flat out terrible. The concept is brilliant however, it’s made to want you to pay for shark cards just so that you can make progress within the online world. Unless you have no job or social life and have an ability to sit around the whole day for business to finish with producing products and grind the heists missions then getting money and levelling is more or less very difficult.

While I don't personally mod GTA V (since if I wanted to play with modded content I would play a game such as ARMA 3) I find it disgraceful that Take 2 Interactive should make the ability for a large amount of the modding community incredibly difficult. The game is sold at a pricey £39.99 which is reasonable if they didn't force micro transactions for GTA online. Massive wait times on businesses, low selling prices on vehicles and cargo etc. They make the player feel the need to purchase shark cards.

Purely based on the business practices I couldn’t recommend this game. Hopefully, after getting a lot of this negative feedback from large amounts of players things may change.

You need to try it to get a feel if you would like Arma, its not like Battlefield or Call Of Duty. I did buy the game before I even had a PC that could run it and that was a bit of a gamble. I do enjoy the game.

I have played both Call Of Duty and Battlefield and this is quite diffrent to both of them. While it is more realistic than both of Call Of Duty and Battlefield there are community based mods that take this further and make the game feel much more realistic (such as ACE).

Since Arma 3 is such a large game (as a community) its best that someone buys the game and trys it out. I made a list of Pros and Cons just so you can get an idea of how the game feels.

Pros:

Wide range of gamemodes and community made content

Great community backing it

DLC is not "forced" appon players (such as Helicopter DLC, players can use the helicopters as long as they are not in the "crew roles"). The main thing being the DLC is not made in a way that you are forced to buy it so you can have a great experience.

The modding community does provide a massive range of content that can be used from maps, to new vehciles, buildins and guns for players to use.

Single player and offline game play runs very well.

Aircraft are easy to fly but they need you to master them. You can learn to fly your self in the editor with helicopters but if you want to get a hand on using them for combat, do the tutorials and then join a mill-sim unit and build your skills from there.

Cons: (this is mainly performance related stuff)

I recomend installing the main game on an SSD to prevent frame drops, mods and other content should be fine on a HDD but if the mod is causing the game to slow down put it on the SSD with Arma 3. I used to have Arma 3 on a HDD and running around 20 frames per second in multiplayer (this is in kavala on altis when playing KOTH), after using Arma 3 on an SSD I was getting about 60-70 frames per second in multiplayer (in kavala on altis playing KOTH). (Since you proberly don't own the game when looking at this review, kavala is a large town/city on a map called altis, altis is a large island and is based on a real world place called "Limnos" near "Greece").

Random memory leaks causing massive frame drops and making the game unplayable for 10-20 minites unless you restart. This can be a problem if your playing gamemodes that are persistant and save data such as KOTH, flying aircraft or you are in some form of combat since you will most likly die.

The frame rate will drop quite randomly when playing multiplayer (single player its fine its quite consistant)

Server sometimes don't always give error messages on missing dependencys (while this won't affect your every day player, if you host servers this can be really hard in helping diagnose problems. I resently have a problem where I was missing a software dependency and the server would crash without an error message. I have not been able to replicate this since the latest update so I think its been fixed).
