Early Access Review
Warning! This game is not a product of a board-meeting-driven, money-maxxing company that only cares about its fanbase so long as it makes money.
No, this is quite literally a passion project led by people who love gaming and connecting with us, the fans.

There is nothing out there like Stationeers. It features full-on atmospheric simulation like nowhere else—you build a small base, pressurize it with breathable gas, and if you destroy a wall or window, it all escapes and pushes you out. If you pressurize it with a mix of hydrogen and oxygen instead, you can set a spark and watch it spectacularly burn out with amazing visuals. The terrain is destructible—can dig out a tunnel, seal it and make a base in.

You’ve got to be a specific type of person who likes to build something bit by bit and isn’t afraid of learning. Yes, learning how things work is a challenge, but if you are willing and patient, you’ll get joy even from something as small as seeing your potato grow.

You can create your own airlock, automatic temperature control, mix gases into fuel and smelt with it (even alloys), automate solar panel alignment, manage power and batteries, work with phase changes of gases and liquids to make a real-life air conditioner, build your own Apollo 1 simulation chamber, a pipe organ?!?, a swimming pool — even a rocket that mines ice from asteroids, and so much more.

The developers know this game is too niche to make solid money, but they made it anyway so they could learn coding and fulfill a dream one great dev had. It keeps getting updates, and I can attest that love is truly included in the package.
I even chatted one-on-one with the devs on Discord—that’s how down-to-earth and friendly they are.

At the time of this review, a huge update is out: it adds new toys, loads of fixes, and makes terrain look fabulous.
The community is also very positive and helpful—games like these filter out bad-mannered people.

Try it. It’s something quite different, and you might just have a blast (a literal one, too).

Overall it is quite a different game from others and artistically well made. Gameplay lacks bit behind but the visual design is captivating and immersive.
Get this game if you enjoy playing around the story as it unfolds, but you might wanna wait until the sale.

The game setting feels great. World is beautifully modelled and the ingame cutscenes, including characters look gorgeous!
It really feels like you're back in that time.
No phones, no Wi-Fi; just the good old boys running their operation the way it used to be.

Admittedly, slow-ish gameplay pacing can be off-putting for some and the gunplay loop is not very engaging.

What is amazing is the driving model.
Whoa, it is soo much fun to drive. You can feel the weight of the car and the speed feels like speed. Mafia has been known for its closeness to real-like driving.

Back then, before Illusion Softworks got turned into Hangar 13, they developed a LS3D game engine which has been used on Mafia 1.
When developing this engine, initially it wasn't supposed to be bootstrapping a game but a professional simulator for driving schools.

It is good to see driving get some proper care from devs.
(If you loved watching the tyres bend in turns in Mafia 2, here they do too, albeit way less, typically for such car)

*Finished the story in around 13 hrs, considering some time spent getting killed by trees and looking for loot stashes and upgrades.

This game is offering loot oriented gameplay. Need to gather some materials like stone ? Go craft some pickaxe and head out ! You will get shot instantly. Why ? Because everyone shoots at anyone in this game. It is basically one big warzone.
Got lucky and built a base ? It won't last another day/night.
This game is constantly about gaining and losing your loot at once. Don't buy unless your psychique is strong. You will die and lose hard earned stuff all the time.
The community is absolutely toxic and unintelligently mean to everyone. Don't expect any friendly faces here !
The optimalization is also poor. The game is running on 1/3 of the graphics settings on my GTX 1060 graphics card and on my Intel 7700HQ on very bad framerate (30 FPS) and game looks awfull.
If I could get refund, I wouldn't wait a minute.
This was the worst game I've bought from Steam platform.

Really well made simulator.

Big possibilities and excellent helpful community. Really well develops your thinking about space travel by teaching you rocket science in a very simple way.
You will be struggling to get on the orbit, but once you manage to do it after many tries, you can start building and docking together parts of mobile space stations.

Establish satellite network system, send probes to other planets/orbits, construct rovers, space planes, planet stations, land (die) on the sun, create submarines and much more things constrained only by your fantasy.

I played lot of games, but this one gives you enormous value for your cha ching $.
