I was a big fan of the original Darkest Dungeon but I held off on buying this one at release due to the change from dungeon crawling to the wagon system. Bought the game on sale and immediately was hooked, the gameplay is a little different than the original but the core systems are all the same.

Instead of focusing on amassing a bunch of trinkets and a high level roster of heroes over the course of multiple runs the progress is mainly contained within a single run; leveling up a team over the course of a run and hope they become strong enough to beat the boss. This new system offers much more variety unlike the original game where you could tend to just always use the same high-level team with overpowered trinkets to solve every level the same way.

Big thumbs up for any fan of the first game, especially if you got tired of the hamlet/hero management aspect.

Like a 2D Into the Breach, good variation of characters and lots of different attacks.

100+ hours in and only beaten the final boss once, still can't stop myself from opening the game whenever I'm bored.

Thought I knew how large the map was at least 4 times and each time it kept getting bigger 10/10

This is the most leftist game because its just reading. With an absolutely stellar and novel dialogue mechanic where the "voices in your head" literally chime in to give you (not always helpful) advice, incredibly in-depth and grounded worldbuilding and a unique art style I recommend this to anyone not put off by the lack of combat.

Great introduction to combo heavy beat-em-ups like Devil May Cry at a price that can't be beat. Fluid controls and great soundtrack.

Pleasantly surprised by this fun gun-filled rogue-lite. Would recommend for people who couldn't get into Binding of Isaac.

Edit:
About 100 or so hours after first buying it I moved on to other games, never having gotten the 'true' ending. With the pandemic I decided that I would try my hand at it again and get the rest of the achievements. The game really does hold up, The sheer variety of guns and powerups makes each run feel unique. While a skilled player may be able to get far in every run, there are some powerful combinations which make getting to the final fights far easier if you're lucky enough. The checkpoints at every floor make it easy to put down if you ever need a break and the various challenges for achievements and in game unlocks means each run can be done with a different goal in mind.
