This is easily one of the greatest game I have ever played. Truly amazed by what Sandfall Interactive's small team have managed to make. The last time a game hooked me that much was probably Elden Ring, is this game on the same level as Elden Ring? No, but it is still my pick for Game of The Year 2025. I would even vote for this over GTA 6 if it came out this year.

I am truly in love with everything in this game:
The Gameplay, great
The Graphics, great
The Soundtrack, great (especially if you speak french, which i do, or look up the lyrics)
The Story, amazing

Paid 65$ CAD for this, then bought the Deluxe edition upgrade just to support the devs. I would've gladly paid 90$ full price for this game.

If you're still hesitating because of the turn based combat, give it a shot, it get's really addictive real fast. Plus the game is on Game Pass if you have it. I would try it on there and then buy it on Steam just to support the devs because we need more projects like this.

My only problem with this game is that it came out during my finals and I couldn't get it out of my head to focus on my exams LMAO

For those who come after <3

It might feel janky at first (especially if you've played Tsushima and you're comparing the two), and the optimization isn't the best (I personally just locked the FPS at 60 and the game runs well), but this game is extremely fun and immersive with some of the most addicting combat feeling of any game I've played.

The story is also very good in my opinion, pulling you in very quickly after the tutorial.
The graphics feel kinda old looking (especially if you're comparing them to Tsushima again) but the art and scene direction is impeccable at times. The game also feels like it has a pretty long story, on Chapter 2 of 3 as of writing this and my save is already at 27 hours.
The play time definetely goes up if you're doing the side quests which are so good that they seem to be part of the main story. I usually skip most side quests but in Rise of the Ronin, I'm really enjoying them.
The open world elements and interactions don't feel jarring either making the overall experience of travelling the world and discovery new areas really sastifying.

This game suffers from the souls-like ''looks like i can enter this building... nevermind'' problem, but other than that, I genuinely have nothing to say against this game for now.

It's been a blast and I would recommend it to most people if you like games like Sekiro, Elden Ring, Ghost of Tsushima, Nioh, God of War, Black Myth Wukong... or if you like Japanese history.
