Animal Well is an indie game that came out like a month or two ago with a lot of critical reception for just how odd but good it was.

I would like to say it is an immersive experience. The ambient sound, the animals you meet along the way, the way each screen/section fits into each other as you slow learn how everything links together, and especially the vibrant and sometimes exhubriant pixel graphics (game is like 30 mbs) all blend together into a memorial experience.

The gameplay is classic metroidvainia, exploring and discovering as you go, and getting items as you go along. Unlike classic Metroid, I would not describe it as a combat game, but instead it is a puzzle game. I am not normally into puzzle games, but how each puzzle slowly comes together and you go "Aha!" is very enjoyable to me.
I like Animal Well, and if someone is interested in even half of that I recommend it.

Fun "twin stick shooters," a reference to the old giant arcade cabient controlls. Very well polished for an indie game. Simple yet challenging, plus a developer that keeps busy on slowly improving the game. If you are looking for a classic arcarde game with modern polish, I recommend Ultratron.
