This game is good. Perfect? There is no perfect game, and nostalgia is one hell of a drug.

I have played every Monster Hunter to date. Monster Hunter Wilds takes everything they have learned from the main-line games as well as some aspects from the mobile team. Making something special. In both regards. This game in its mechanics, in its art, in what it wants to do. Succeeds. Fast paste game play with amazing pacing.

This is the best Monster Hunter Game to date. People will not agree with me on this and say its too easy. First off, easy is a difficulty. You can make it harder.. Don't upgrade your armor. Hell take off your armor. Only use Low Rank gear in High Rank. Difficulty is subjective. Second, there is going to be newbies. My advice to you? Seriously, slow down. Take your time. Like really take your time. Playing this game at 9 years old back in the day was not kind to me. But if I beat Alatreon and obtained his armor not even hitting double digits yet. You can beat this game no problem. It's all about learning and overcoming.

The game is buggy. On Linux, on Windows, Consoles have it easier because it is at 30 fps.. Stutters can't be seen as much.

In my personal fixes. I have FSR on Both Nvidia and AMD gpus.

For Linux users use proton experimental bleeding edge and

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b" %command%

You will need to disable the anti tamper software built in the game or you will be locked out for 24 hours every update. The number of PC's you can use at a time is 5 and every update counts as a new PC. It resets every day to 5 PC uses but still.. I couldn't play day one because I was soft banned.

For Windows/Linux: Now in game, cap the game to 30 fps (yes even with a rtx 3080 or similar cards). Then use FSR balanced with frame gen (yes frame gen sucks yes, but its a tool that we need to stop stutters)

Use whatever preset your card can handle with these settings. It sucks right now but this is the best we got for now until they fix the VRAM leak..

Conclusion: This game is peak, fun, and a hot mess. a solid (7/10) for me. The main story feels too short but its a welcomed if you want to make alt characters. Your first play through you can blitz through the game. Your second one you can appreciate the cut scenes and story better. I'm personally going to wait until they fix the game to redo the story again. The weapon designs are better and not WORLD CRAP DESIGNS. The game is fast paste and worth your time. This game literally treats your time with respect. All in all this game would have been a easy 9 out 10 if the game was optimized. No broken skills, broken story quests for some users, and weapon balancing issues. 10 out of 10 if the game had Lagiacrus in base game.. This game level design is freaking beautiful. I can appreciate all the little things they did in this game. But seriously. Capcom. IF Lagiacrus is not in this game after Mizutsune. I will Never forgive you.

I hope this review helped. I wanted to be more positive because it is easy to be negative. I have my gripes and issues with this game like the next person. But in due time it will be fixed.. Am I happy? Yes. Would I refund this? No. Fortunately the game runs sub par for me.. I will list my testing hardware below.

Artifacting found only in this game, on Linux. Turn mesh on high or medium to fix. Might be due to Nvidia GPU running on opensource drivers. Not certain. No heavy artifacting on my AMD gpu using Linux.

Windows ran fine with settings above. But its still Windows so gross.
