As much as I want to like this game, it trips over its own feet extremely hard.
The level system is so rigid that you can hardly fight anything two or more levels over you. It punishes you very hard for exploration, making the experience very linear and repetitive. It makes you have to grind senselessly when there's no real need to other than artificially enforced to.
Bayek, the protagonist, is really well written. But the omission of slavery in turn for a generic 'poor vs rich' story just ruins what the story could be. The writing spits in the face of all the hard work in the art and historical research departments.
Overall, it'd a great walking simulator, but anubis forbid you play the game as a game, because the proper gameplay is punishing and unrewarding compared to what it could have been.

If "The Patriot" had a video game, it'd just be this with even more violence.

No idea why it's so cheap. It's unique and offers a better story than a lot of them. Absolutely worth it.

The campaign is awful. The whole "US Military vs CIA Contractors" style of gameplay is dumb too, in my opinion. The multiplayer is actually really good, though map selection and artistic inspiration is lacking.

I watched a man pee for 35 minutes and he was still going.

A story that uses big terms like 'Kafkaesque', then 5 minutes later makes jokes about kicking robot dogs.
While it confuses and angers most people, the post-intellectual writing style is something I adore.

The story is decent, but the gameplay changes shoot the whole game in the foot. It goes against the Wasteland formula, forcing you to play one way, and locking you in a room with infinitely spawning enemies. It's just terrible design, I don't know why they thought it'd be a good idea. And they're mandatory too, again, going against the Wasteland formula.
