Well.... were to start, i have played total war games since rome 1. i have about 500 hours in rome 1, medieval, and over 2700 hours in shogun, and i have to say, this is fast becoming one of my favourite total wars yet. if you were sick of the layout, speed, and allround gameplay both in campaign and battle of rome 2 and attila, then this is the game for you. its combat has that old feel to it again, nearly like shogun 2. units are surprisingly well balanced aswell as magic ( alot of people say its underpowered, but its not they just dont know how to use it). the campaign map is one of the best layout wise, and the AI is by far the most chalanging to date. i have many more defeats and close vics in this game than i have had in any other total war, rarely do i steam role the ai. now, a big problem with most people is the races. only being 4, or 5 if you have the chaos dlc. well after playing all the factions, i dont mind only being able to play 5, because, they are all so different from eachother. i would much rather 5 well fleshed out races than 20 that all felt the same, so for me, its not a draw back. also, the game runs like a dream. i am using a gtx950 graphics card with a decent processor and i can play the game with all settings on high with a few on ultra (like unit details) and it runs like a movie. only get some slight lag in 40v40 battles and even then its barely noticable, so it runs even better than rome 2 and attila ever have for me. now there are a few problems..... the building tree is bloody stupid. there are so few options you will often be scratching your head on what to fill a building slot with so you just put something useless in to fill it. it needs alot of improvment, one of the good things i did like about attila was the building diversity which realy needed to be kept here. the other thing is some units just feel... useless... granted there arnt many that get that feeling but some like goblin spearmen just never at any point in the game feel usefull, even in realy early game, they just dont seem to do any damage to large oponents at all. however, my problems with the game are far and few between and far outwieghed by the positives, so this gets a well earned 9 out of 10 for me, a few more things and it would be my perfect game.
