I played almost 2k hours on the original ARK and I really wanted to love this game but it’s just not worth the amount that is being asked for the current state. If the devs actually improve and optimize this I’ll gladly change my recommendation. It’s a beautiful game but being able to barely play it on medium with a more than adequate PC is just frustrating. The “new” servers are definitely a downgrade from the previous. Just honestly a disappointment all together. It’s a shame too because there is no option now to go back to the old game as the servers have been discontinued. If you’re interested in trying this out I would wait until it’s on sale given its current state. Hopefully they get around to fixing it

Update on 12/11/2025: The game runs much better for me now, I will say there are still some issues with server lagging but overall this game is fun to play and brings back some memories of the original ARK. Graphics are significantly improved, the game just looks great. Seems to me like official PvP servers are pretty much useless now unless you're part of an alpha tribe but I've been having a lot of fun on the Arkpocolypse servers

ARK isn't a game, it's an experience. There is no real point to ARK other than to survive. I guess that there is a story? I'm not sure, after 1,000+ hours all that I have done is PvP. That has been quite an experience in itself. I started playing ARK back when it was early access and it has been interesting to watch it develop over the years. I will say that it is still buggy and there are glitches. This game has a large learning curve, it is not easy, especially if you play PvP. Raiding is a ton of fun though and you will give as much as you'll get. I can't tell you the amount of times I have had to completely start over. Honestly, it's almost like a drug addiction, I just keep coming back for more. What really keeps me coming back is the scenery of the maps. This game is beautiful and a lot of the maps are very lush. I think it's worth giving a try you just have to realize that it's a very unique game and may be very different from others that you've played

Counter Strike Global Offense is hands down the best multiplayer game that I have ever played. I have 70 games in my steam library and I keep going back to CS GO. It is well worth the price, you will get multiple hours out of the game. It's not the easiest game so be prepared to pratice, but man is it satisfying when you start to play well.
