Fun with friends but very unoptimized. You need a good rig to host a multiplayer server unless you can rent it.

10/10 peak game

only complaint is that the majority of the characters are only obtainable through DLCs. I guess its a fair trade-off considering the base game is dirt cheap, and is occasionally free to claim.

Replayed this game after the 2.0 update, and it's still pretty much the same experience as it was before.

The gameplay loop is still very repetitive. Missions has almost no variety. The missions are almost always to kill every enemy in the area, and if it isn't, then you usually end up having to anyway. Sometimes an enemy ace shows up, but they still end up feeling like fodder.

The combat isn't very satisfying either. The weapons feel like they have no impact when they hit, even the melee weapons. The only fun thing about the combat is when you shield ram another mech into a wall/building and they blow up. You can't dual wield weapons either, and to my knowledge, backpack weapons are all missiles, which you cant fire at the same time as your other weapons.

The world feels super empty. There's like...no characters at all. The only explanation I've gotten about my faction and the enemy faction came from the prologue and 2 entries in the codex. There's no story to carry you through the game, which is usually fine for these types of games, but imo there's really no motivation for me to reach the end when you feel like you've seen everything after the first couple hours of the game.

The mechs aren't really interesting either. I like how they look but there aren't really any interesting variations between parts when their only meaningful differences are their weight, their cooling rate, and their hp/barrier. No gimmicky parts like legs that lets you jump (you cant get on top of buildings without dashing unless there are smaller buildings that make a stairway), No shoulder weapons, and im still pissed that you cant dual wield weapons and shoot them at the same time. The weapons are pretty standard and boring. There's the plasma guns that knocks you down and the backpack that places mines but that's pretty much it. No bazookas, no rockets, no grenades, and the fight gets boring to watch after a while. There's melee weapons, which I thought I'd love using, but they aren't really fun to use. The mechs feel like regular people and I hate it.

Buy the game if you like the timeline mechanic I guess.
