Survival/management game that gives good story to each colonist. With different climates and difficulties great replay value.

Don't understand some of these harsh reviews, maybe it's just the high standards of the series. An excellent game, especially considering Civ 5 took some DLC to get perfect.

What sticks out at me so far:
- I miss the diplomatic victory type but the new religious victory is a great addition, giving more value to religion
- I hated the art style at first but it's actually decent once you get used to it, very clean
- The AI opponents seem like they have more personality and depth to them, although they still sometimes make no sense
- The new "happiness" system (amenities) feels a bit less annoying then in the previous game (once you get used to it)
- The menu music is incredible, sometimes you don't want to start your game so you can hear it finish.

People compare this to Minecraft, so here's what I think:
Both have a very long history of updates and a strong modding community.
Minecraft - far better exploring, and it is 3D if that is what you prefer
Terraria - better everything else. Crafting, weapons, enemies, combat, detail, progression, etc. Also don't forget to try with friends! Multiplayer is probably the easiest way to really stack up the hours in this, but also you could try all the world and character difficulties, along with the special seeds that are out there.

Banished is such a beautiful game. Somewhat simple yet still engaging and hard. The perfect game for city builder fans, reminds me somewhat of Tropico except more focused on the city part of it without all the extras. One of my favorite parts of it (compared to other city building games) is the variable weather adding a different look without mods.
