This game is awesome! It's the perfect combination of old-school and modern gameplay. It looks great too! And the best part, it's all done in the GZDoom engine. That's incredible.

Great everything so far. The guns, weapons, enemies, it all feels really cool. Except the difficulty. Am I the only one breezing through Exterminatus? I'm up to the 4th level and have only come "close" to dying once because I wasn't paying attention. It seems as though for being the highest difficulty available at the start, you take way too little damage, deal way too much damage, and to top it off are almost always at full stock of ammo. Maybe there are unlockables that increase the challenge later on, but for now my only gripe is the game is WAY too easy.

Update since getting to chapter 2:

The difficulty has increased but not my much, at least not as much as I would expect. I'm also finding more and more how frustrating some of the mechanics of the game are.

So many instances of immediate, no-tell damage
Weapons and enemy damage feeling inconsistent
A weird delay sometimes with switching or reloading weapons

I'd still say for sure this is a fun game, but a game that seems to warrant an early patch to balance the above issues.

This is actually what I've been waiting for. It's the one game I always thought could possibly match Doom as my favorite game. It has all the best aspects of the Doom modding community while also standing on it's own as a game. And while it doesn't matter one way or another about who the main character is, it is pretty cool to think this can be the way I introduce my daughters to these kinds of games.
