EDF 6 makes some small mechanical improvements to its gameplay and adds a truly ridiculous amount of new enemies to its roster compared to its predecessor, but above all else, the story is complete insanity in the best possible way and it is far and above my favourite title in an already beloved franchise.

If you can afford to, try to play through EDF 5's story first. Though its story works as a stand-alone experience, it is much improved by having familiarity with the events, locations, and even some specific missions from the previous game.
